Known issue (also see wikipage). I believe typing /unbind F7 will fix it for you. Also see the wiki link for some work arounds.

Yeah, I figured it must be known to someone.
The first link you gave says this:
After doing /bindsave then /bindload and hitting F7, the text displays as "<color black&rt ><bgcolor #22aa22&rt > Ready!" |

It's related to not being able to program <> in binds anymore. When creating a new character, or loading that file (which creating a new character does).. the code will be broken.
Using "/unbind F7" will set it back to it's default severside, which will make "Ready!" display correctly after that.
This recently happened to me too when I saved keybinds on heroside and then tried to apply them to a villain character. The /unbind command is great. =)

I recommend that you save your keymap settings, then go into the bindfile and delete the lines for the default emotes (F6-F9 I believe). Doing this means the next time you create a character or load the bindfile you wont break the the emotes.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
You could also, in theory, set them to unbinding themselves...

F7 unbind F7
Then the first time you press it, it'll reset itself.. with the only side-effect that you wont get the "Ready!" you expect the first time you use it!
I like just removing the line from the file though. much cleaner.

Some of my characters say roughly that when I use the default chat keys (like F7 for "Ready!"). Other characters do not.
These are default chat settings designed into the game, not custom binds.
I am not certain whether all the characters in question have altered their chat bubble colors or not.
What causes this? How can I get it back to the normal default setting that my other characters enjoy?
