How do I use "Vengence"?

hello everybody,

a complete newbie to the Defender AT with an operational question.

"Vengence", I know what it does, but am not sure about the best/correct/wise way to get it done.

So, am on a team with another Def with Vengence and I have the Rez power.

I am never sure when I should Rez in case I screw up his Vengence cast.

Then again, if I have the Vengence and a dead teammate, do I just get in to the team and cast it then TP the dead guy out and Rez, or just cast Vengence and Rez.

Do I have to "Gather" the team and then cast Vengence?

I would be really grateful for clues as to how you all use the power in a combat situation.

Any tips/experiences and especially any "Do not under any circumstances do this" things.

Thanks for you help

I simply wait several seconds, long enough that I can comfortably assume he'd have used Vengeance if it were ready. It has a long recharge and it doesn't take Recharge Rate Enhancements, so it quite often isn't ready.

Whether you rez your teammate right after Vengeance in the middle of the fight, at a distance while your teammates fight without you, or after the fight is over depends entirely on his build, what you're fighting, how many there are... You'll have to use your best judgment. Remember that he won't have the Vengeance buffs (unless there's a freak timing accident, which I've seen happen once).

Not really. The buff has a nice, big 100' radius, centered on you. For comparison, your other Leadership auras reach to 60'. Unless you're separated from the party or around a corner, it should hit everyone.

Probably a good idea to tell people at the start of a mission that you have vengeance so self ressers don't needlessly quickly just get back up at times when vengeance would prove helpful.

Clearly it works on defeated people but should they be dead in an area of splash damage (aoes) then it is usually preferable if the enemy or enemy group is moved away from the defeated one before you vengeance and res than for you to tp the defeated away, failing that it would be better for you to tp them away, then vengeance, then ressurect. There is no point in you going to do vengeance and then finding yourself held or taken out yourself.

Depending on the situation the time taken to tp someone maybe not really affordable which is why I think teams are better to move the enemy away. It is especially good to have people able to use awakens asap and stay up when they do if needs be.

If You Have Taken Vengeance:
Step 1: Set Vengeance to automatic.

Step 2: Wait for someone on your team to die. This may take some time depending upon your team's skill, mission difficulty, and your skill as a defender.

Step 3: Click the black name on the team window. (Optional: Activate Power Build Up prior to clicking on the dead teammate's name.

Step 4: Laugh maniacally as your team becomes effectively invulnerable. (Optional: Rez the dude you popped vengeance off of)

If Someone You're Teamed With Has Vengeance:
Step 1: Faceplant. (Skip to Step 2 if you are a defender with a rez power)

Step 2: Wait until you see vengeance go off. When you do, or if you have waited for 5 seconds or longer, go to Step 3.

Step 3: Apply rez method of your choice.

Hi Guys,

great info and I have now got both a handle on what to do and also when to do it.

All your replies were spot on and big thanks to you all.

Now to explain to my teamies just why I am not healing them

Cheers

You missed 4b Fire off fallout, then the optional rez

Just tell 'em you really love Vigilance.

Once you've run a few PUG missions or a PUG TF with Veng on auto, you'll never look back. There are three amazing benefits to putting Veng on auto that I don't really feel like listing right now. It's more fun to experience them yourself, anyway. Hint: While you have Veng on auto, make sure you're blasting or otherwise targeting enemies as much as possible.

Replace "friend" in there with "teammate". "friend" can choose pets. It can also choose players outside your team, which is a problem in multi-team situations like Rikti invasions and public Giant Monster bashings.

Thank you, I was not aware of that.
