Defensive Stay
If someone knows who could help , i may be wrong but i recall when you put pets on defensive stay ,they would not move that much and attacked but would not go after them, I used to keep ppls from making my pets follow them, now when you do it they act the same way as defensive follow and got after your targets. Is there a better way to get them to stay put even when attacking ? I want them not to follow the target, i used the macro /petcom_all defensive stay for this but not working it seems

I believe the command you want is "Passive." This should prevent the pets to responding to attacks against you or them.
New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Yeah, there's no way to make them stay where they are AND attack. They will always try to move in range to attack foes if they've been told to defend you, and the foe is out of range. You have to play switch with Passive and Defensive mode if that's what you want.
I hate the fact that they can't stay and attack. When I call defensive stay I expect them to hold the line but!...No

For this reason alone (there is always that rogue bot who wants to run into melee or chase a fleeing enemy into the next mob), I often use the 'come to me' command. But not for long... after the rouge bot(s) get this command, it breaks the chase, and immediately afterwards I'll have it (or them) 'attack my target'.
I agree. It'd be nice to have a 'all stay put and attack range from here' command. As it is, the MM has to stay on top of where the bots are running off to.
Yeah.

Thank you for the replies, will have to keep my macro management in check
Defensive stay works if the pets don't have line of sight to an enemy. I've used it to set up ambushes when having the pets follow would have resulted in a mosh pit otherwise. (i.e. You guys stay over here, I'll lure the victim back.)
However, as others have pointed out, in an open battle, pets will chase their target and generally dance all over the map. I use the goto command to corral the herd, but my MM's primary is Ninjas, so it's generally better to have them dogpile a few targets at a time.
