Is there any way to get into a pickup team anymore?

Personally, I've definitely noticed fewer people in the AE the last week or so (on Infinity at least). Thinking that has more to do with Champs Online up and going and pulling some people over there, especially some of the long time players that were forming many of the farm teams. But I've had much more success finding PUGs recently. Have had several offers to run TFs, and had a couple PUGs run for several hours in and around steel canyon the other night. Many of them on the group seemed to be what many are referring to AE babies or just new to the game in general, but they were out in the real world. I got to show some of them how to pull and thin out the mobs a bit instead of charging in head first and dying over and over again after one of our tanks had to leave. I think the AE might be slowing down a little. But I never had too much trouble before getting on a PUG before. Things definitely seem to be changing a bit lately. It should be interesting once Champs gets out of beta, see how many people stay over there, how many come back and how the issue 16 changes affect everything.

Server populations are still doing just fine, thanks. Just more reason for people to be inside missions rather than street sweeping these days. As for the dots on the server list, that's server load, not population.

Also, as the servers get upgraded, the comparative load goes down, so what used to be red is now yellow...what used to be yellow is now green.

Not "nothing". Certainly (hopefully) not as many of the high-ranked groups as you think are "Prestige farms", and I haven't heard of any current prestige exploits (like the egregious one a few years back) that are being utilized.

I understand your concern, Ironblade, and I agree that the rankings, by themselves, should be taken with a grain of salt. But that's also no reason to dismiss out of hand any group ranked highly. The ranking DOES tell you how active the group is (just not what to attribute that activity level to).

In our case, on Victory server, we are the #1 and #2 ranked (by Prestige totals) SG and VG, respectively, and we are not in any way a Prestige farming operation, nor do we have any SG mode or earning requirements. What we are, simply, is a very large, cohesive and friendly group of casual players that have been very organized for over 5 years now.

I say this to point out that anyone looking for an SG on any server can, I think, use the rankings as one piece of information, and then do the rest of their due diligence (i.e., review the SG/VG's website [if any], speak to member(s) in-game, etc.) to find a group that will fit their playstyle best.

These threads pop up far too often, and get the same advice. AE teams are NOT the only thing running. I run my own non-AE teams almost every time I play, and manage to find people. Sometimes I get more, sometimes less, but I usually get in the 5-8 range after playing just for a little bit.

So, tips:

1. Form your own team.
a. Broadcast in appropriate zones to find more people.
b. Use the search function to find more people.
c. Create an informative query and copy and paste it. No need to retype "Level 40 team running Tina Macintyre AV missions, you interested?" fifteen times... you can just copy it and send it to anyone you see on the list that isn't on a team and you can fit in yours. Nice and easy!
2. Join a good SG that will have people wanting to team with you. Or form one yourself!
3. Friend people, use the in-game notes, etc. to be able to find the good players that are on when you are.
4. Find out what the chat channels are for your server for lft, etc. (you can usually ask in that section of the forums... we get that question every so often in the Victory section), join them, and use them to recruit your own teams or get in on the TFs, etc. that people are planning.

All these are fairly easy things you can do, and you will keep in on the action... I find teams and make them pretty easily with all of the above.
4.

You can argue with them about whether or not it's true.

The absolute best thing you can do is find just one person who feels the same way you do and plays at the same times that you do. Then get their global handle.

It's so much easier to get teams rolling with two players than with one. You can join their SG or start a new one.

Getting their global handle is key because so many good, experienced players have a lot of characters on a lot of servers, and odds are you won't happen across them again on that particular character for several days.

The two of you can take turns running the team, and when you come across others who share your interests get their global handles too. A small core group of three to six players is all you really need to establish a supergroup, and in a few weeks you'll have a decent base (especially if you're playing villains -- you don't need anywhere near as many teleporters).

Thanks for the tips everyone. Very informative.

My standard method is flip my flag to 'looking for any', add no farming or no Posi TFs or no whatever I dont think like to the comments, check Wentworths/Black market or go do a mission solo.
Typically within 30 mnutes I have an invite.

I'm happy to be teaming with less than 8 though.

I'll start up teams if I feel like it, and that gets one going quickly

I am looking forward to the super side kicking, probably make more teams then.

I play in the US off peak times (aussie) on virtue, justice and liberty.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):
