Best partner for a Mind/Psi

I'm brand new, but from my forum research here (kudos to all of you contributors), it looks like a dark/nin stalker might be best.

Any consensus on the most effective leveling partner for for a Mind/Psi Dom?

hmm, cool. Sounds good. I was under the impression that mind/psi had a lot of sleeps in lower levels, so AoE was not ideal. That's why I thought a stalker's surgical approach (though undoubtedly slower) would work better. But I like the playstyle of corruptor so I'll consider it. Any primary power recommendation? Fire or dark?

Assuming you're going to be duoing most of the time, I'd go for a Brute with Willpower as a secondary, and any of Stone Melee, Super Strength, or Battle Axe as a primary.

As a Mind/Psi you'll be able to lock down spawns fast, but the most reliable group lockdown you have early on is your a sleep. The mostly-single-target sets above won't break your sleep early on. By the time the brute can throw around AOE attacks he'll be able to keep the target's attention and take hits more reliably, and you'll have other options for aoe control in Total Domination and eventually Mass Confusion.

I'm also recommending the above because of reliable knockup/knockdown. When you're dealing with Elite Bosses and above, keeping things on their backs can help a lot. Even if it's just the start of the fight, a couple knockdowns can give you time to stack -recharge from the /psi secondary, which gives the brute more time to heal up from the last hit before he takes the next one.

Another option might be a mastermind - have them focus fire on one baddie at a time early on, and rely on them taking the presence pool and tanking in Bodyguard mode to take the really big challenges later. That requires a lot more player skill and game knowledge though, and since you've only got one post I'm assuming you're new to the game.

I'm sure I'll get downmodded by stalkers for this, but they're not very good for PvE unless they're solo. Stalkers are bogeymen in PVP - they make solo heroes cry and go find a defender to kiss it and make it better. Their main advantage is being invisible and having one really strong attack - in a game where NPCs always come in groups. They underperform in groups compared to other ATs unless played by an exceptionally skilled player, and even then the same player could do better at PvE with a different AT.

Also, you may wish to consider changing your name. It's disrespectful to the gay community. Maybe that was the point?

I am not a hardcore stalker by any means, but would like to say my Elec melee stalker is a monster on teams. Lightning rod does not break stealth, so that followed by a Thunderstrike (PBAoE with lots of crits) can lay waste to a mob. This may team well with a Dom as the dom can lock down the mob while the stalker goes to town destroying it without fear of needing to run away and hide. Nin is a good secondary with lots of defense and a heal if things to go wrong. (mine is Elec/Nin and regulary Duos with an Elec/SD brute.) Having a team mate for a stalker that can keep aggro off you, or stop it all together is a great thing.

I duoed as a dark/cold corruptor with my friend's mind/psi up to lvl 23... even without a ton of synergy, it was a total blast to play! That is of course until he went and deleted his dom Still, you can't really go wrong. I feel like a dom is great for any duo in the right hands

[Edit now that I have more time to answer]:
I'd also like to add that sleeps can still be used to great effect in a duo, even with lots of AoE. Let's say you're duoing with an elec brute: he runs in and grabs the aggro/alpha, and you both let loose with all your AoEs. The moment you've both cycled all your AoEs (easy to tell since it's just the two of you), mass hypnosis! With proper timing they won't have a chance to retaliate much, and you and your partner are free to pick off the weakened stragglers at your leisure. You can proceed to fully lockdown pesky bosses and lts., run in and drain psyche, carefully line up a telekinesis if appropriate, and fully utilize your new and improved single target damage

Regarding Stalkers: I think a stalker in the right hands is a powerful addition to almost any PVE team! They are single target specialists, which is more handy than you'd think. Even before I got placate on my db/nin stalker, I would consistently get off 2-4 assassin's strikes per battle, quickly decimating annoying enemies (bosses, tsoo sorcs, SWAT equalizers, etc.), and making missions a breeze for my team.
