Upgrading the Account

I just recently got my hands on a CoV trial key and am amazed, the game is fun, the players are mostly nice too, if you meet any that is, hehe.
And the gameplay is solid too.
Only problem is that you can't send tells, group invites, and can't get over level 14 with the trail account. Which is a bummer.

Anycase, I wanted to upgrade my account now, but am not sure if I could do that simple with an NCsoft timecard, or would need to do something different, like buying the whole game after downloading it already.

I hope anyone can give me an answer

edit:

I also don't have a credit card, and the only way for me to play would be with the timecards.

Timecard, no.
In order to upgrade the trial account, you need either a retail version of the game or a "game card" - these cost $20 and give you one month in addition to upgrading the account.

Personally, I would go with one of the boxed versions since you'll also get some kind of perk. The Good vs Evil box set has a couple of really useful powers (and two sets of costume pieces).

Well, guess I got to get the box then, just another question, I don't need a credit card for that do I?

Well, to upgrade the account that is. ^^

You need a credit card or, I think, a PayPal account to do it online. You can buy a game card at retail stores like Best Buy. (Make sure it's a game card and not a "time" card.)

Also, since this is now the "English" forum and not the "United States" forum, if you buy the game online, make sure you buy the correct version. There's a version for the EU and one for the US. Anyone can use either, but if you buy the US version, you will play on US servers and vice versa. If you want to keep the character you started on the trial version, make sure you upgrade with the same regional version as the trial you started on.

Small addition -- it can be a DEBIT card as well (that's what I use). And yes, pretty sure the PayPal option is there too.

Oh, one more thing! When you change your account, make sure you use the Upgrade button/option and avoid the Add option.

Upgrading will change your current account and Add will open a new one, which means you will lose all your current progress. This is also helpful for any add-on packages you want to apply to the account later. Always use the Upgrade option unless you actually want to open a new account.

I think this also depends on country of origin. I believe that debit cards from Canada work differently than US debit cards and people have had issues with them in the past. I'm not certain if a Canadian debit card works or not.

Also, I highly recommend purchasing Architect Edition, as that will give the most bang for the buck. With everything it includes, it ultimately costs you negative $5.00.

Also, before purchasing any time cards, I recommend also purchasing Mac Edition and the Good vs. Evil Edition as well and upgrading your account with those. Those add an additional 30 days time each, and include a bunch of nice extras, and bring the net cost down to $5 or less.

We don't have bestbuy or so in Germany
So, no timecards or anything from there, only from amazon.

And I think I DLed the EU version, if I was smart.

Yep, I was, just double checked and it is the EU version, phew. If not then I'd have been in big trouble since they don't sell the US version here and I already made some contacts here on the servers.

And if I would want to buy it online I would simply use paypal, I was just worried because another trail for another game I wanted to test required me to enter a debit card number.

You are pulling my leg aren't you?
A look at amazon only revealed the Good vs Evil edition.

Anycase all, thanks for the help, I'll see if I can get it then and become a soon full player! And finally send tells, sheesh, is that one lacking feature annoying, grrr.
Another question, 1 month acess does not mean 24 x 30 hours of gameplay but exactly 30 days, even if I don't play, right? :P

Thanks for the links Zombie Man, but I stick with what I have right now

I just ordered city of villains/Heroes via amazon so I can upgrade my account.

After that I just use timecards to get more time to play *cough* 15 days for 6,99. That's cheap- Considering 60 days cost 30. *cough*

It also allows me to be more easy minded about that all. ^^

Why not try NCSoft's own in-house store: https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...pen&category=2

If you check, you'll see Willow is right, there are a few other packs you can pick up that add to your time as well as give you neat in-game stuffs.

Wow look at that.
Oh well, I'd need to send money to my pay pal account first to shop there, I stick with what I got right now.. although the NCsoft shop is far cheaper.. for some things at least.
