DM/FA - Brute or Scrapper?

I am going to be making a DM/FA toon based on a concept that I have but I am wondering which would be a higher performer. I am thinking that the Brute would be, based mostly on the fact that I can get my Fire resist past the 75% Scrapper cap and the PPPs add sorely needed AoE damage.

However, the fact that damage buffs benefit Scrappers more and on a high recharge build I could be looking at perma Soul Drain plus a signigicant amount of uptime for FE makes the Scrapper somewhat attractive too.

What is everyone's experience on the two?

i have both in the upper 30's, honestly, either way you go is fine
to me the brute feels more powerful, but that is just an assumption on my part and in no way reflects reality, i have never bothered to check the numbers on either.
i can tell you that the "double bag of tricks" aspect of this combo is sick, just sick i tell ya. HF has always been my favorite heal in the game, it's a big heal, it recharges fast, and soon it won't even have to be green
add SL into your attack chain and all of a sudden your green bar never really moves again, and for a Fiery Aura toon, that's impressive.
the double endurance drains are also sick, making up for the only shortcoming in both powers, the ridiculous recharge times.
FE is nice, but helps only a little with this build, but a quick recharging SD should more then make up for it.
i'd say you can't go wrong with this pairing either way, but if you HAVE to eek out the best from it i'd say brute, by a small margin, but i swear you won't notice it, or even care, it will a great toon.

enjoy it.

Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.

screw your joke, i want "FREEM"

I had same doubt, finally decided going DM/FA Brute, spent quite some inf on him and softcapped him to Melee Def, no regrets so far, that Fury Bar makes me giggle full time.

Lately I have been preferring scrappers to brutes but it's mostly a matter of taste. The primary difference between the two is that a brute needs pretty much non-stop action to keep fury up where a scrapper CAN engage in non-stop action but if they need to take a break for some reason (because the cat walked across your keyboard or the doorbell rang or just cause your fingers are tired) you don't have to worry about losing fury. After playing brutes for a long while I got tired of constantly having to worry about my fury level and switched to scrappers.

In low levels a brute will be a little easier than a scrapper because you can slot up accuracy, end reduction and recharge in your attacks and depend on fury for damage - the exception is if you have access to Mr. Yin's store in faultline where you can get L13,17 and 21 damage SO's for mutant and natural characters - which means you can start slotting damage SO's at L10. But after L22 when both AT's should have a decent attack chain fully slotted up it boils down to playstyle preference.
