Gap in standard enemy group

This morning I was playing one of my own arcs ("Serpent People", Arc ID: 87226) with a level 38 toon. It is a story focused arc, I try to make it playable at any level.

Snakes have a gap from level 35 to level 45, and I get (randomly?) level 34 and 46 enemies... How can I fix this?

I'm actually surprised you can get snakes up to 35. The snakes in the 45-50 range are part of a story arc offered by Operative Grillo and are significantly more difficult than the snakes you face in mercy.

You sound like you have an interesting idea. If you haven't played through that story arc, I highly recommend you at least look at the mission arc on paragonwiki. I personally like the last mission so much I've kept it on several of my characters.

The simple answer is, you can't. If there are no standard mobs for a level range, then there aren't. Most villain groups you can fake it by creating some customs to span the gap, like the Family. But that is obviously out with Snakes. You are going to have to pick what levels you want the arc to cover or else get some bad reviews from people that play it while in that gap.

I find this ironic since with custom groups you aren't allowed to have a gap. But Snakes is the only group I know of with this issue. All other factions with a level gap are split into more then one group (Family, Banished Pantheon, etc.)

Yeah, that level gap problem with Snakes happened on an arc I was designing. I'm wondering if the devs might possibly fill it. There was one other group (Freaks I think) with a gap that the devs extended their range in the MA versions.

Freaks don't really have a gap. They go up to 40 in Crey's Folly, then there are the 40-45 ones in the Bile mission from Tina. Before i15 you could use the group as a whole all the way up to 54, but you couldn't select individual Freaks as objectives above 45, except for Quantums and Noise Tanks. With i15, we got the 40-54 individual Freaks. They have always existed in-game, in some of the Portal Corp missions.

I had Snakes in a mission and noticed the same problem with a level 41 character.

Set the mission's lower level limit to 45. You'll only get level 45+ snakes and the characters will be SKed to the appopriate level.
