Fire epics for controllers

I have recently gotten to playing controllers and have gotten one to a respectable level of 41 so far and was able to check out the epics for them. First I was very pleased with the variety they have as I am use to playing scrappers and we all know how good their epics are.

Thery seem to be extra attacks for the most part but also with a little something else like Ice has hibernation, Primal forces mastery has power boost and Stone has Earths embrace. This got me thinking fire was missing something. For one all the others have 5 powers except psionic mastery. So here's what I think fire should have added to it either healing flames or rise of the phonix.

What do you guys think?

Well first you have to remember the only reason some of those pools now have 5 powers is because a few Issues ago the Devs tried to replace some of the original 4 powers in those pools. People screamed so much bloody murder over it that instead of replacing those powers they ended up restoring the original powers -and- leaving the new powers in as well. The net effect was that we gained a few new choices. Fire Mastery didn't suffer from that switcheroo so that's why it still only has its 4 original powers.

I wouldn't mind Fire Mastery getting a fifth power but since the Devs never technically intended for the other pools to have 5 powers my guess is that they aren't going to give Fire Mastery a new one out of the blue.

Actually, they have indicated that they'd look into it, back when they were initially altered. Any set that didn't get a fifth power may, at some point, have one added. The ones that didn't get a fifth power tended to be popular and reasonably balanced already, though.

No timeframes, obviously.

From what I remember, half the powers in Ancillary pools are only there because Castle wasn't around when they were made.

There's a reason Patrons were seen as 'pre-nerfed' in comparison, and recently recieved buffs just to stop the whining.

Yup, from what I've read, if Castle had been in charge of the original APPs Defenders never would have gotten Power Build Up. A number of other powers probably wouldn't be there either. That's the only one I remember for sure that he dislikes.

Actually, they told us there were several powers that were just not being used or seen as effective (see also pets, stalker snipe) so alternatives were added. Of course, for powers that "weren't being used," direct replacement resulted in people raising absolute hell (and properly so.)

(Edit: And yeah. Apparently some of the APP powers give Castle headaches.)

It sadly amazes me when Devs get the idea that they can justifiably remove or replace things like these powers, even if they have hard data to show that these things aren't being used by many people. To my mind as long as even -one- person is using a power like this it ought to retained.

If the Devs discover a legitimate problem with something then sure it ought to be fixed or dealt with. But if something doesn't truly NEED to be replaced then there should always be an effort to provide new alternative choices instead. Clearly it didn't break the game to have 5 powers in those pools instead of 4. I just wonder why that wasn't the -first- thing they thought to do address this situation.

Hopefully they will be more mindful of this in other similar situations (like costume items).

So we've been told that epics are getting a 5th power eh eh.

So anyone think it will be my suggestion of either healing flames or Rise of the Phoenix?

Healing Flames would work well I think.

Healing Flames? Doubtful. A self heal enhanceable to recharge in 15 seconds? Probably not going to see it.

RotP is much more likely.

I'd like RotP more than HF, tbh.
