Hey, I made a new Energy/energy brute for the double xp weekend to try something new for pvp....I was just wondering how would i go about slotting it to get as much defense as i can? I want good damage but I'm really going for survivability on this one....a mids would be nice.......but im Really looking for advice. thanks....

Sorry, just realized I have access again to the boards. Wish I would've seen this earlier. If you want survivability DON'T take /EA...or any +DEF set for that matter. +RES is about 10 times better. My first brute was EM/EA and he's 50. I never login w/ him anymore. Just don't. NO fun dying to streakbreakers w/ mass numbers of mobs, that any decent +RES brute or tank can survive.

Tourettes.

Oh, if you do decide to go w/ one, here's a powers list I went with. No slots, as he's not even worth the time to login and see what he is anymore. I do know I took lots of KB recharge redux sets. They're cheap and you can stick 'em anywhere. (The dunce hat ones)

The performance of energy aura is ok after you soft cap your defense. Soft capping defense is not really expensive. Since you already started the toon, you can give it a try. A build is attached below. I don't know your preference, so it's just a "generic" build with aid self and all defense soft capped except psionic. I used some other IO bonus to increase regeneration but it is not crucial. You can tweak the build to fit your style.

I'm going to have to disagree with Tourettes. Resistance by itself is most certainly NOT 10 times better than Defense. Not in terms of TTL(Time To Live), nor in terms of avoiding nasty effects from stuff.

At soft cap, Defense tends to outperform Resistance, particularly in the absence of +HP.

All this said, Defense-based builds tend to mature later than Resist-based builds, and are typically a bit more expensive to get the most out of.

/EA is weak right now, thanks to some glaring holes in it. And EM is somewhat underwhelming as a primary to pair with it, thanks to the animation time nerfs. Not a terrible primary, but there are others that do comparable ST damage, far superior AoE damage, and have greater mitigation. My EM/EA is shelved pending improvements to one or both sets.
