Show off your Signature Banners

Finally got around to screwing around, and throwing something together to make up for the fact I can't really list any characters in my signature due to the line limits.

EDIT: And then the place I have it stored implodes. Awesome.

Looks good. If you want to center it just add [ center ] at the beginning and [ /center ] at the end.

It says 600x120. Don't you take away my 20 pixels.

It seems some programmers would agree with you that there are still many people using IE6 and older browsers and are using these java tricks to compensate for them.

Actually I was asking how she made her sig transparent, not anything to do with IE6 but hey I'm always open to learning new stuff so thanks for that answer as well.
I'm more of a hardware geek(I build custom computers for a living)/pen and paper artist than fancy software tricks/digital artist, though I do have some basic Photoshop skillz
It's an old trick. PNG has been around for quite a while. The heir to the GIF you might say. And having done tech support you'd be surprised how widely used IE6 still is. Until everyone switches en masse to a new version of windows with another IE in it that'll be what you see most.

Oh, and, um, guess I mistunderstod the transparency thing. Yes PNG transparency (compared to GIF transparency) works quite well.

Not sure if I want it centered or to the left...

I tried to make mine as small (40px height) as I could and keep the information. Probably when I make one that's not for events, it'll be about 10-20px height. At least one line posts with my sig are about the width of my avatar.

Thought this would be the best place to post this...for anyone that would like a custom banner (using your screenies and/or other art), send me a PM here or a message on my deviant art page for more details.

I'm surprised I don't see many user bar type signatures which are 350x19. That's about as unobtrusive as I've seen. Stack 2 and still small. Perhaps that's the way to go.

You could tell us how you make an animated banner first

lol same way you'd have the regular picture in there. I just used the image tags on my signature while editing it.

I wanna maybe center it and have a photo link on either side of it if i can...

I know i saw somewhere how to do that...

Should we use the rack, chinese water torture, or electroshock, LJ?

Actually, I'm surprised that it's 600x120. I was under the impression that standard horizontal web banners were usually 468x60. (And I can see why they wouldn't want vertical banners on the site - ugh!)

Depends on the software program you have.
Photoshop comes with Image Ready. I used to use Ulead Gif Animator but currently sticking with ImageReady.

Ulead doesn't make the product anymore) although it seems you can still download the trial from CNET (it does not work with Vista): http://download.cnet.com/Ulead-GIF-Animator/3000-2186_4-10002057.html

TA is using a transition effect between each image. There are 6 frames for each drawing being shown.

1 is normal
2 has a touch of blue in the upper left corner
3 has a larger patch of blue in a wider area
4 has blue patch in a streak moving down toward the center
5 has the blue streak nearly covering the whole image
6 is a blank (white) image that creates the lighting flash effect.

electroshock would be useless, as would the water torture, its not torture when your subject hasn't bathed... so I say we use the rack.

Banners come in various sizes. 468x60 is just one.

I use PSP9, and Animation Shop 3 when I want to animate something.

Ya know, I find it kinda... silly-funny that the artist types dunno how to make a simple animated GIF!

I kid! I kid! I love you all, and enjoy being able to answer these kinds of questions. I've gotten some nice free arts, so I feel it's the least I can do.
