Piston Boots Aura
I've only got Piston Boots on one alt and I've never noticed any kind of effect, coloured or otherwise. Then again, the alt in question is /Dark Armour so it's unlikely I've been able to see it anyway.
I'll have to have a look later and check it out.

i also have piston boots on my fire/mind blaster, bright red boots (blue secondary, but dont' show up much on the boots that i remember) and can't remember seeing any effect on them either, which i was kinda disapointed at as they were chosen for themeatic reasons!
Then it's time for them to get off the cross, use the wood to build a bridge, and get over it.

All I have noticed on my piston boot alt is a grey dust cloud as they land

I've got piston boots on a few of my toons and the aura is just as you have described, there has never been any colour show that i can remember.
I think that you may find that it is the winged boots that use the colour for the aura
It would indicate to me that either the cloud aura is broken in regards to colour tint or the Wiki is in error.
It's purely down to aesthetics for me, whilst I've yet to get into any serious RP in CoH, I enjoy creating a character with as much reasoning behind what he/she does has available as possible. For instance my latest Hero is a normal man but I want him to use the leaping poolset so in order for him to achieve the incredible feats of leaping, he has boots capable of doing so.
I'd like it to be fairly obvious that he's using technology to achieve this rather than a super ability and a coloured cloud aura would do this as, at the moment, I think the greyish aura is rather subtle (I'll have to play a bit more to see it the effect 'as is' grows on me).
Personally I'd prefer a piston type SFX on landing (possibly upon jumping too) than a cloud of dust buuuut you gotta make do with whats available.
However, I made this thread in order to find out if the aura was broken, if it was my PC or if the wiki description was in error.
If I remember correctly, and I rarely do, this was definately how it worked when i9 launched. I think I remember using it, saying I liked it, then never used it again.
ya i was gonna use them in a cossie too until i realised they were too subtle so i scrapped the idea, i wouldn't hold your breath for it to be fixed
i would also love it if rocket boots animated for SJ
I've done a search as I generally always try to do and I couldn't find anything other than people asking for the actual boots to be animated (which is something I'd like to see btw), so I decided to go ahead and ask this question, if it's already been answered please point me in the right direction!
I've read on the Wiki that "Jump landings in Piston Boots produce a cloud of smoke based on the primary color of the boots." Now it didn't distinguish between normal and Super so I assume it means any type of jump, but yesterday on my lvl 2 alt (so no leaping pool powers yet) the effect produced was just lighter or darker shades of grey/white clouds rather than the 'primary' colour.
I assumed that the primary colour was the main colour of the boot and not the detailing colour but either way I coloured the boots to two different bright colours and yet the aura just stayed greyish. It seems, at least to me last night, that when it comes down to colour, they either aren't working as suggested or the colouring itself is too subtle.
Is this a known thing? Is anyone else experiencing this?
