I think Marilyn Monroe is probably one of the most influential style icons ever, so Madonna is just one of loads of people who get style inspiration from her.

Exactly, but looking back at some of Madge's more famous publicity shots, it's remarkable just how similar they are in style, setting etc.. to Marilyns. So while Madge has made some original looks, they are definitely not all original.

Although she's never gone as far as having to be sewn into a dress, like Marilyn did when she sang for JFK - which really is dedication to your look

That's not dedication, that's a bad case of low self esteem..

Right, even though I'm supposed to be sleeping now (it's bloody 4.30 lol...) it's most certainly anything but dedication to style. It's either her low self esteem or her wanting to get into Kennedy's pants. Hm... oh wait! She did get into some Kennedy pants.. I don't believe the nay-sayers on that one..

Right, off to bed with me now..

*narfness* Carni, why is it I can really imagine you working a Gok look?

Speaking as someone else who's shamelessly stolen their style from Bettie and her sweatergirl ilk in the past, Desdemona's right on the money... especially the little peekaboo shorts. I think they've taken some of the facial modelling from the equally worshippable Pauley Perrette, though.

For all fans of Desdemona...

She makes personal appearances.

Seems a little... taller in person though. *stares up and waves meekly*

[/ QUOTE ]

Have you seen her beside Ms Liberty? She's either using the Huge avatar, or Ms Liberty has joined the Elflings

On a related note, the woman playing Desdemona is model, and the one playing Ms Liberty is a cheerleader and aspiring actress from San Diego.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
