Siege at Steel Canyon
Ash filled my lungs, burning like the decay of this city on the hotbed of crime. I coughed, clearing the smoke from my system; looking down at the corpse of the assailant infront of me. He shouldn't have come at me with the knife. The gun was an even stupider move.
As the still smoking firearm lay next to his motionless body, I turned to her.
Her red hair piercing the dark alley, never again to see the light of day. I had failed, but justice had been served.
Adjusting my mask and picking up my hat, the communicator in my ear picked up the distress call from the Detective. I leapt to the roof of the nearest building to get my bearings. As I did so I pulled my badge from the inside of my jacket pocket and affixed it to the outside of my coat; the now dulled shine of the brass a sorry reminder of its former glory; it's existence reflected my own.
I slipped into the shadow, and silently sped across the city. I wouldn't let anyone else die today.
((This is The Walking Shadow for this roleplay))
Tinderspark shifted in his sleep. The alley which he had been forced to make his home smelled of booze and god knows what else.
He could hear light footsteps running down a nearby alley. He opened his eyes just in time to see a dark shadow duck down a row of apartment buildings.
"Huh. Looked like he had a badge...Well," He said, getting up and stretching, "Looks like something's going on."
He dusted himself off and followed after the figure.
A figure edged along the rooftops opposite the bank. A high optic sensor array swung over the windows.
"Great..."
X21 Ice Wolf sat back, resting the long rifle on an a ledge and sighting along it. His featureless, flat helmet fixed on the building, he reached up and tapped his comm, switching it over to Police band.
"This is Wolf Hound. Positioned on building behind and above you, over. Any points you want scoping?"
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Tinderspark wandered out into a main street to be faced with a barricade of Paragon SWAT armoured cars and Officers.
"Damn. I really need to get a police radio."
He waltzed up behind a group of police gathered behind one of the armoured cars. "What's happened?"
"Hey wait a minute!" Tinderspark protested as the Officers pushed him back. He opened his coat to show his costume "See? I'm a hero!"
"You don't smell like one" I commented as I stepped out of the shadows, raising my badge to the officer. As he turned to me I gave him the details he would undoubtedly want before he wasted his breath,
"Special Detective on loan to the PPD; name is unimportant, but my hero designation is 'The Walking Shadow'. All you really need to know is I am a man with a particular skill set that will help you should you require it", I rattled off, not trying to hide the disdain in my voice,
"What's the exact situation?" I enquired, whilst observing the scene through my mask, taking in the officer positions and details of the building. As my eyes came down to the entrance, I noticed the piles of soot and scorch marks on the floor. Under my mask, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, and my mind flashed with the image of the burning victims; the look of terror in their eyes like a rabbit in the headlights of a truck.
Come on man, this is no time for this, pull yourself together. I shrugged the image off and brought myself back to the current situation. Better.
Tinderspark scoffed at the hero's remark, "So? I haven't found a place to live yet. Same thing happens to alot of new heroes." Then he noticed the badge, "Hey wait a minute, you were the guy I saw earlier!"
The Walking Shadow? Tinderspark had heard a few people around Atlas City Hall mention that name before. He had heard a few descriptions, but the guy was kinda creepy in real life.
He noticed that the guy was just staring at the entryway to the bank. "What is it?"
((just fyi, mask is full face, so you wouldn't see my eyes, but you wern't to know that. You would have seen me freeze in place though, so no loss))
Death. It was always death. Ever since the beginning it had been. Today was no different. And it didn't look like it was going to get much better.
"Nothing" I muttered as I waited for the officer to give me the information.
(( Just changed my previous comment for canon ))
Tinderspark couldn't help but feel as though The Walking Shadow was hiding something, but he decided to leave the asking for another time.
He didn't want to be left out if someone needed help, so he stuck around to listen to what was going on
Lieutenant Hicks approached the detective and the hero with a tired look on his face. "Walking Shadow, thanks for answering the call, and you, you're one of the new ones right? Yeah, I got a file on my desk with your damn face on it, Tinkerbell or some sh*t, listen, we got a major problem with this siege. The robbers have displayed supernatural abilities, pyrokinesis or some kinda mojo. They're not responding to our attempts to communicate, I mean, they're not picking up the phone or answering to the loudspeaker, nothing, just random killing. Any ideas on how we could get a word in to them? Freeing any other hostages is our key priority."
"It's Tinderspark" He muttered under his breath.
He listened carefully to the Lieutenant. "Wait, pyros? Hell I'm one! Why don't I just waltz over there, do some negotiations and get 'em in the open for your guys or something? They might even think I'm one of them!"
"Roger that."
Wolf shuffled across the rooftop, ducking from cover to cover. Fox still hadn't finished work on the full spectrum cam-field yet, but he was running the base version, meaning that, at this range, anyone looking up would see little more than a shimmer. At anything other than extreme range it wasn't much use, but that was were Wolf operated best.
"We've got two goons in the main lobby, Lieutenant," he muttured after a while. He was back in the original spot, having completed a full circumference, in no small part thanks to the armours built in jets. "Armed, though I can't quite tell with what. Also, be advised, the Safe looks like the area where they are keeping the civilians. Counting on nineteen, twenty, possibly more. Over."
He peered down, keeping an eye on the new arrivals.
"Pyro's...good thing Fox isn't here to try and duke it out with them," me muttured, flexing his own right gauntler for a second, just long enough for a coating of frost to spread over it's surface.

My mind raced. This was not going to be easy, but there was a chance. Fear is the mind-killer. These criminals are afraid of me, I've seen their true face.
"Lieutenant, can your sniper take out a window high up on the building quietly? Negotiation isn't my forte. With your permission, I'd be best inside getting the exact situation. I can do this unseen" I informed the Lieutenant.
I didn't care if he said No, I was going in whatever. It was my duty; my duty to the people, not to 'the force'.
Looking up the building at the windows, the sky looked like rain was coming. The clouds hung heavy as I hyperextended my fingers back until they clicked, the momentary relief a rare pleasure in this godforsaken city. I reached behind my back as I picked my hat from the shadows and placed it on my head, the familiar snug fit of the leather was reassuring, like an old friend coming home. I brushed the rim of the hat as I waited for the Lieutenants response, as to who he was going to send in first.
"Roger that Wolf" the lieutenant radioed over. "Get down here now, we need you here, over." He turned to look at the costumed hero. "You got a death wish or something pal? Never underestimate these people, they're powerful, desperate and therefore unpredicatble, you understand? You're not gonna waltz in there and ruin my operation, Shadow has the right idea, stealth infiltration." The lieutenant looks up at the masked detective. "Wolf and tinkerbell here will follow your lead, that alright?"
"Stealth? I'd be right under their noses and they wouldn't even know it!" Tinderspark protested
"Really?" the lieutenant questioned, slightly intrigued. "And exactly how do you intend on doing that? Dress up as a banker, a civilian, a hellion or some nutcase suicidal spandex? We're dealing with professional bank robbers here pal, so unless you're a shapeshifter, I think they'll notice you're not in their little family."
Tinderspark clenched his fist with rage. His fingers set alight.
"Fine..." he replied in a quiet tone
Great. Tag alongs.
"I normally work alone, but I'm not arrogant enough to assume I can do this single handedly", I conceded, "If scopes up there can make a hole in one of the fifth floor windows, they shouldn't hear the shatter. I can get myself and one other through that window, so I hope either scorchy here or scopes can fly. Once in, we will work our way down. Once the situation is assessed, I'm sure a solid plan can be formulated. I tell you now, I'm not a negotiator. We will need a secure frequency for communication, and I'm guessing fireboy here will need a communicator."
I wasn't thrilled, but there was something here more than just a bank job. I couldn't hesitate much longer, this needed to be sorted fast before anyone else got hurt. Well... anyone innocent.
"Cool it pal. When people's lives are on the line, you don't mess about."
Wolf had descnded to street level, and had stepped into sight behind Tinderspark. The customised Redding rifle was held idly, but with an ease that spoke of years of specialism. The blue-white blend power armour Wolf wore had been seen across the City before, although most frequently in fights with the Rikti. The air temperature dropped a degree or two, the source of it seeming to be the bulkier gauntler Wolf had on his right arm, the focus of the suits built in thermo-negative powers.
"Fifth floor?" he asked, looking askance at Hicks. "And I can get airborne myself, so if firebrand here is coming with us then you'd better grab a hold of him."

Tinderspark was startled by someone behind him. He turned round to be faced with a hero in a suit of tech-y armour.
He listened to Shadow and Wolf exchange plan ideas with Lieutenant Hicks.
"No I can't fly. So if you're gonna pick me up then you better keep your hands to yourself."
Hicks ran the plan through his mind quickly and noticed a flaw. "Breaking into the building will set off an alarm, Shadow. Of course we could disable the system remotely from here but I'll bet my salary on it those thieves are monitoring defenses and they'll notice. We need to think of another way in and fast, they've already killed two hostages and if this whole thing turns south, the media won't be the only power on our arsse."
I couldn't deny the logic; he had a point. A new plan was required, but quickly.
"Ok then. If you can get that front door open, even for a second, I can get in, unnoticed. That, or I can go have a look on the roof for an entrance. Your call boss"

"Alright what's the situation?" asked Lieutenant Hicks, arriving on the scene of a bank robbery siege. Police cars had cordoned off the immediate area and officers surrounded the perimeter. As the ranking detective spoke, marksmen took their position on nearby rooftops.
"We responded to an alarm, sir, and upon arrival, we actually saw two men in black suits and coloured shirts running out of the bank. We cornered them off and forced them to retreat back inside. That was only moments ago. Right now, we're making attempts to communicate with the robbers and ascertain the hostage numbers."
Suddenly, two ladies in short skirts came stumbling out from the bank, screaming for the police not to shoot. Somebody's palm emerged from the half open doors, hovered there for a moment and in a blinding burst of heat, the two ladies lit up on fire and exploded to ashes. The police rushed about wildly, the marksmen opened fire through the doors but the palm withdrew quickly.
"Oh for fu*k sake!" screamed the lieutenant, a look of shock horror etched on his face. "I don't think I can deal with any more of this supernatural sh*t. Detective Miles, radio this in now. We need hero assistance!"
