Blapping Powers.... is there a point?
Ice is good for Blapping because it has control, and fast attacks. Elec is similar but misses the short range high damage blast
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
I've got a Sonic/Elec Blapper that has Brawl 4-slotted...
Personally I find that melee powers in a Blaster's secondary pool are incredibly useful. Mainly because they are so damaging, but also because nearly all of them inflict some kind of mez. "Total Focus" and "Thunder Strike" are the only ones that take a long time to animate, and thus tend to work best when "jousting".
These days with IOs there are means of getting a Blapper high S/L or Melee defence too, which comes with the added benefit of helping you avoid mez. Softcapping S/L is even possible if you take the Ice Epic.
The biggest problem for Blappers tends to be premature death from pulling TOO much aggro. Concentrating on single-targets when you're Blapping helps, using AoE slows/Knockdown Patches/Sleeps pre-emptively is better.
(Before anyone starts: Brawl is a set mule! I'll happilly trade 3 slots on a Blapper for a total of 35% S/L Defence, 21% E/N Defence, 28% Melee Defence, 20% Ranged Defence and 30% Resistance to S/L/E plus Aid Self! )

Bah, some of us were 6-ing Brawl before IO's and sets came out.
DON'T eat muffins while I'm developing you.
Pants! Turkey Magnates! A man in a box! Rogue AI! Come one, come all, to arc ID 10107 - It's 'Not as long as some other arcs'!
Finally got the aforementioned Sonic/Elec blapper to 50 today (has been parked in the 30s/40s for ages... Hurrah for Easter holidays! )
Respecced out of Elec mastery to the Ice Pool to softcap his S/L defence. Combined with Snow Storm, so far he's soloed all the Preatorian Elite Bosses toe-to-toe. I think he might even be able to go toe-to-toe with one or two of them as AVs. Spent about 500 Million on him altogether to get him IO'ed out, including 2x LOTG 7.5s.
The general idea behind it is to use the -resist from the ranged blasts to soften the enemy up, then slap it with a high damage Melee attack. Given that he's in melee range a lot, the S/L defence comes in handy.
As a Softcapped Blapper he's definately turned out to be a fun ST damage toon, although his AoE output (just the Nuke, plus Siren's Song and Thunder Strike) is decidedly pants. Standard attacks are Shriek/Scream + Charged Brawl/Havoc Punch/Thunder Strike/Shocking Grasp, with Electric Fence slotted for mez rather than damage. Skipped Shout in favour of Shocking Grasp and haven't missed it in the slightest.

blapping
[/ QUOTE ]I'd assume powersets with lots of KB are -bad- for blapping... Hoverbombing would be more useful for something like Energy Blast.

Heh i guess i shouldn't get TK Blast from primary
Maybe i will try to level up a blapper in future with different primary like Electric or Ice instead of Psy. It looks like a challange. Since my come back i am drawn thru the challanging builds somehow. For now i have two heroes i want to focus, MA/Inv scrapper and the Archery/Mental blaster i rolled instead of that blapper.
