In the Shadow... ((Semi-closed RP))
Susan Bright, also known as Heroine and Psionic tutor Psysan, meditated silently in her not very well illuminated office in the Vigilance tower. Stress around the place was high due to the recent IRS investigation, something Sue was both quite to pick up on and unfortunately lumped with for the time being; as a result she found herself drifting along the cities mindscape more and more as an escape
Hey relaxing float along the brilliantly illuminated background of millions of thoughts was rather suddenly interrupted by a loud psychic wail from something close to her physical body, instantly her eyes opened and she began making her way to the lifts, checking with the towers AI system BODICA to see if any students were involved.
(( my one UV toon ,Strangelet would most likely be in the UV base labs, working on some private matter ..but she would not notice anythng Psi related..So unless something / one prompts her she will not react ..but consider her there as the plot developes ))
[i]"It seems to have come from Kitsune Vixen's room in Vigilance Tower. She is currently unconcious." BODICIA replied to Psysan through the commslinks. "A team of medical vigilants are moving to the location, you will be allowed access as well."
Ashley Grey was lying back in Tiger White's room, listening to her MP3 player when the first shockwave was felt- although a little surprised, she thought it wasn't any of her business- with a quiet yawn, she curled up into a ball- attempting to fall asleep.
With a little whimper she held the side of her head, before leaping up and off the bed, attempting to teleport to the source of the explosion...
The nosebleed had already stopped, and Vix's pulse had steadied from the frantic hammering it had been. For a moment she opened her eyes, casting an orange glow around the darkened room. She managed to murmur a single word, before slumping back against the foot of the bed;
"..Sarah..."
Paragon City, Three years ago, Atlas Park
"No, turn it off, you know I hate their songs!"
"Aww, come on, just this one? No, get OFF, I'm the driver, I say what goes!"
The girl stuck her tongue out at her older friend, but couldnt help grinning, then smiling as her companion burst out laughing.
The two were on there way home. Sarah's car wasnt new or even that good, but it seemed like a luxury to be able to drive rather than walk all the way home, or catch the crowded Monorail.
"Hey, did you hear that?"
Sarah looked at her.
"No...girl, you're hearing things again, right?"
"No, it sounded like...sirens and stuff..."
The brakes squealed as Sarah looked back, to find two figures bursting out into the road. One raised an arm, and a second later the windscreen shattered, and Sarah was slumped back in her seat, blood pouring from her left shoulder.
The car slewed across the road, the two robbers having to dive aside as it piled up the pavement and into a tree.
"Sarah! Sarah! Ohgod...ohmygod...!"
The girl managed to get the door open, falling out onto the grass and scrambling round to the other side of the car,
"Hold it right there, you little runt! Try and run us over, wouldja?"
The Hellions stopped dead, weapons lowering as the girl turned. Her eyes burned even brigher than the upper echilons of their gang, and the look on her face was enough to make one of them whimper "Oh, mother...!"
The pair were hurled clean across the other side of the road, even as a PPD car pulled around the corner. One officer leapt out to slap cuffs on the unconcious thugs, while the other moved slowly over to the scene on the grass.
Sarah was on her back, and she was bleeding heavily from both her arm and legs. Bits of metal were stuck in her shins, and she had an unhealthy palour about her.
"Lord...Come on, miss, give her some room..." the Officer murmured quietly, then stopped as the girl, with desperate eyes, rested her hands on her friends stomach.
At first, nothing happened. Then a sort of glow seemed to ripple out under Sarah's skin. The Officer gasped as the flecks and chunks of metal were seemingly forced out of her body, then watched in awe as the gaping shoulder wound seemed to knit itself back-up. Eventually, aside from ripped clothes, there was no sign the girl had even been touched.
The girl slumped to the floor, head swimming. She saw her friend opene her eyes dazedly, then wider in amazement.
"Sarah..." she managed, before she hit the grss, the darkness claiming her...

(( OK after OOC ing with Tech ))
Strangelet suddenly sat bolt upright ..some thing had just flashed some form of energy across the UV lab , and as none of the usual alarms had sprung into action , it was obviously not normal .
With one line of thought raising her defences , another pressed the UV comm- link
err anything going on I should know about ..?
Ashley ended up a floor above, in an empty room- the shockwave having affected her judgment- she made a running dash for the door... which was locked. Ashley cursed under her breath, not daring to teleport again- encase she ended up halfway in a wall. "Help!?" she shouted from behind the door, pounding on it, not even thinking about how moments ago she'd been intent on helping the girl- and now was the one in need of helping.
Flashpoint grit her teeth at the pain and aches in her muscles, she'd been training solidly the whole day, only stopping to eat, relaxing a bit she moved to the side and picked up her comm just as Pru spoke, "Why do I get the feeling I missed something...?" grabbing the towel and slinging it over her shoulder Flash ambled her way back to her room, focusing on the chatter incase anything cropped up...

Susan arrived at Vixs room a short while later, a small group of medical Vigilants have group up with her in the lift. She carefully approached the door to the young psychics room, reaching out with her mind long before she opened the door, trying to judge Vixs state before she went in.
As a side effect she felt a worried presence a floor up, where Ashley had gotten herself stuck, Bodi, I think you might want to send a Vigilant upstairs, I think someone is stuck
Vix was still unconcious as the medics entered, but her eyes snapped open as they neared her. Just for a moment, they were a glazed orange, and Vix's aura boiled around her. Then whatever it was was gone, and blinked dozily, as is just waking.
"..S..Sue?" she mumbled, coughing raggedly as if her throat had gone dry. "Wh...?" She trailed off, obviously barely concious.

Paragon City, 30th March, 03.00 am
The Hollows
The old prowling ground, they had called it...the first place they ever fought crime as a unit.
She ran her fingers over the rough stones of the low wall, feeling ever speck, every grain and contour.
Guns blazing, fire flying, ice in the air and cries of combat and honour.
She stepped back, looking over the Red River. She thought about and, for a moment, it did indeed seem to flow red...
Let nature wash away their corpses, and the sins of the fallen
She looked up, saw the distant lights on the hills of Eastgate, saw them even though her eyes could not. The Circle of Thorns, performing their sick and twisted rituals...
Twist them until there is nothing left, and choke them with the evil they would bring about
The Trolls and the Outcasts. That was how it used to be. Oh, the others had come later, but the Hollows had always been centrestage for those two gangs. Bringing them in had been all part of the duty...the duty she did, and was never thanked for, the suffering she endured, only to be called on, time and time again...
Let them call, and see who will answer now. Let the cries be paid for in due course, with the respect that is owed
The hammer struck thin air, and stuck there, six inches above Vixen's head. She turned, eyes blazing red, a dark and angry red now, with no trace of pale orange.
"Do you take me for an idiot?" she growled, and it was a true growl. Her inscisor's had even lengthened, and were more fangs now than teeth. The Outcast Initiate could only stare and gulp in panic, like a goldfish out of water.
"You can take a message back, and spread it. I am not to be troubled. Understood?"
"Sure, darling. Let him go, or we kill yer."
Vixen looked around, as the circle closed up. Bait. That was what the young man had been. These boys were no mere thugs. Scorchers, Chillers and Crushers, all with fully manifested powers. All spoiling for a fight.
"Oh, but of course," she grinned, noticing the slight uncertainty at the sight of the fangs and the burning eyes.
There was a grating, organic crunch. The initiate slumped to the floor like a boneless chicken, and the group drew back a step in horror.
"You killed him!" one yelped, "Heroes...they ain't allowed to do that!"
"Oh really?" The group started to edge back, but the air suddenly seemed like glue, "Perhaps it's time we started bullying murderers like you in your PLACE!"
The scream killed three out of the fourteen gang members outright, their brains simply shutting down from the overload of raw psionic energy. Most of them would suffer from effects like paranoia, weak bowls or forgetfullness for the rest of their lives. All of them were hurled off their feet, a ring of prone bodies around the quivering figure in the middle.
Vixen looked up, one eye hidden by her hair, the other blazing like grim fury.
SABRE. Chief Centurion Z1, X21 Ice Wolf, Z22 Pyre Fox, and Kitsune Vixen. They had done their best, compromised by the laws and regulations they had to follow.
Well...maybe it was time for a change.

((For members of the UV and NV mostly, as they are the ones who know Kitsune Vixen and will be around the Unity Vigil Tower. Anyone who is regular friend of the UV/NV who might happen to run in is welcome too I guess =] ))
Unity Tower, Around Midnight
Kitsune Vixen. Doctor at Chiron Medical centre in Atlas Park. Ex-student at Steel Canyon University. Field Medic and part-time Heroine. Aged eighteen. Capable, calm, collected...
Vix lay back on her bed, an icepack on her head. She hadnt even been able to get undressed. She felt terrible. Worse than she had felt in a long time. She didn't even know what was wrong, which for someone who was a psychic and an empath was both irritating and mind-numbingly worrying.
Vix winced, pressing the ice even tighter against her forehead. Only one lamp was on, keeping the room dimly lit. Occasionally, and so faintly as to be beyond notice, it seemed to flicker slightly.
"Why fight it?" a voice purred in her head, like a ruby sawblade. "Theres nothing wrong with you...you just don't want to admit it..."
"Get OUT of my head..." Vix snarled, and she could feel her teeth itch as she said it.
"You know as well as I do that's not possible" the voice said quietly, "Besides, you think I'm just going to abandon you? You clearly can't cope with all this y-"
The lamp fizzed out as the small psionic wave rebounded off the walls, the air humming and bending as Vixen's mental scream echoed silently around the room.
I can cope! Just not with you, Shadow! I like Flash, she's a really good friend! But I shouldn't have done what I did! I don't have time for a relationship yet, and why should she have to put up with someone like me? I don't know whats right yet! I get moody about it, I know, but thats normal. Now I'm stuck, stuck with that, stuck with you, stuck with feeling like my mind is burrrnnniiinng...!
The ice-pack exploded in a cloud of steam. Vix fell to the floor, clutching her head, a psionic shockwave rippling outwardsm beyonf the walls of her room. Even as it died down, she collapsed against the bed, a slow trickle of blood creeping down from her nose as a cluster of blood vessels burst, closing her eyes as she slipped into unconsciousness.
