Well I can activate it on my card (HD4870) but I dont see much difference to ne honest. Actually I don't see any difference at all so I might be in the same situation as you.
AA and DoF cannot be used at the same time with ATI card. Also, High water detail is likely to cause some graphic corruption. Sorry.

FloatingFatMan.. as you could see i wrote down 'i've disabled both' and earlier there i typed 'it said depth of field should be disabled, and water reflection can't be set on high' so ya i know.. However, CoH hasn't changed anything and it's still boring.
MajorPain, i can help you now though, i've got a solution.
Download TweakCOH there you put everything max, except depth of field, and water (those 2 disabled) now, turn AA on 4x or 8x and voila, it works. 
to bad it needs a program, and NCsoft can't fix it themselves.

ive got the HD 4870x2 which is the Dual core graphics card with 2gb memory. and coh is poor performance, i can cap the fps at 70 on the highest possible settings, but AA dont work, and when i fraps it hits 1 fps for some reason

Edit: also, i dont think City of Heroes supports 2 GPU's, so i just think City Of Heroes uses only 1 GPU, so it counts as a HD4870 1gb.
Downloaded TweakCoH but I still don't think I see any difference between no AA and x8. Shouldn't I? :P
Hmm odd, it works for me though :S
Can anyone shed more insight on tweakCOH. I am having the same issue with AA with my new 2gig 4870. I've DL'ed and installed it but doenst seem to have any effect!?

Well, i've discovered that you need to turn on 4x AA in the ATI Control Center too. so in tweakCoH 4x AA and in Control Center
Hello, a few months ago i've upgraded from a Geforce 6600GT to an ATI HD3850, i wanted to play City Of Heroes again but i couldn't seem to turn Anti Alias on, it said Depth of Field should be disabled, and Water Reflection can't be set on High in order for AA to work.
I've disabled both and yet AA doesn't work, i rebooted the game and still no effect.
Now, i've upgraded the HD3850 to an ATI HD4870 1gb, and yet.. with new drivers (8.11) the AA doesn't work. i've disabled the Catalyst AA to Application managed. even when i force AA x4 it doesn't have effect.
Anyone here with an ATI card here got AA working? and could please share me how. as i can't stand the pixles edges.
as i really want to play this game with most eye pleasure.
