graphical question

I currently have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 3800+, runs at 4ghz. I have 2gb RAM and a Geforce 8400GS 3d card.

I have just paid for a 8800GTS 3d card, but im already playing CoH on full settings and full resolution with a good frame rate.

When the new 3d card comes, would it make any difference graphically to CoH other than a better frame rate?

If you're already on full settings and everything is turned on, then no, framerate will be the only improvement.

Aww shame, reason i asked is an old friend of mine with a top of the range pc took a screenshot of his charecter ages ago, and it looked miles better than mine so I just put it down to the pc.

The settings definately are on full i checked manually, it tends to be the facial textures that look different on mine graphically.

Are the NVidia Force settings useable with CoH? I havent tried it as of yet because of fear il break the game lol.

Well... I have an 8800GT card, with everything maxed out, and the game looks awesome... Perhaps you don't have some settings as high as you could...

ok i realise this is a little off the original topic, but upon plugging in the XFX 8800GTS, i get a loud beeping noise on computer.
It made me jump and computer doesnt load, after reading the instructions i just want to check ive got this right, the cables direct from the power supply to the comp need to go directly through the card rather than the motherboard?

It just seems a little weird to me so i thought id better check so i dont get a massive kaboom.

Yes. Modern video cards need a power feed direct from the PSU as they use way more power than the PCIe slot can provide.

I will bet that the 8.10 won't work either. They're for ATI not Nvida

Most relatively new PSU's (within the past 18 months-2 years) should have the necessary 6 pin power plug for your graphics card. it's a 6 pin adaptor that looks like www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/pcie6.jpg
this.

I had this problem. Built you girlfriend a new computer a few months ago only to find it didn't come with an adaptor for the power. They will come with the higher end of PSUs as standard, but I was using the PSU that came with the case.

Sortde it by popping down the local computer shop and getting one for 99p

Failing that, try ebay searching for something like 'molex to 6-pin graphics adaptor'.

hi-jacking the thread :P but my current graphics card is on it's way out, would anyone know a good dual screen capable graphics card that would work with a "ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5W DH Deluxe Rev 1.xx" motherboard?....coz i'm bamboozled

yeah mines an old PSU i checked and it doesnt have one.

Its annoying because at the minute I have a 3d card thats good as nothing but a paperweight, and from the size of the thing it would be a bloody good one.

For duel screen, you'd want a powerful one. What size are the screens? I'd recommend a couple of THESE badboys in SLI, but that may require a new motherboard. (I can't be bothered to search for the one you have )

THIS graphics card also rocks if you only have 1 PCI slot- You'll need a good PSU though!

19" widescreen x2 (atm :P ), they're currently running off a Radeon X1950 Pro, after some digging around I found what i think is the motherboard i have.
Sooo, any good? I'm assuming i can use both the mentioned cards on this motherboard, but best to get a more knowledgeable opinion heh.

All the cards I've bought that need their own power supply have come with the adaptor with them that has a 4 pin molex connection on the other end

Worth checking whether your supplier has "ommitted" it
