Urgent broadcast ((RAPIER ingame plot))

Monday 3rd November 2008 Across the city, PPD radios in every zone burst into life with the following broadcast:

ATTENTION HEROES OF PARAGON CITY. This is Irene Trenz of Longstaff WarTech's RAPIER Division requesting the assistance of this city's... 'heroes'... in matters concerning a strange artifact of magical origin. Anyone willing to offer such assistance can meet my squad on the hill in New Troy on Talos Island, at approximately 1930 hours.

((Right, so this will be a team ingame and ICly charging through a chunk of a mission arc, which has been fudged slightly. If you haven't got a clue how to understand military/24hr time, 1930 is just 7:30pm, which will when I'll be putting the team together. Said broadcast ideally should have been heard by any hero with a PPD radio. But then again it's completely up to you whether yours is off, rotting in a drawer somewhere or just generally stuck up your chars' backsides. Sideways.))

((EDIT: Oh yeah. And it's about L20-21 missions.))

(( Or, you know, deciding that such hinted negative use of heroes would be enough to not respond, or, being too busy... no need to be negative in advance about a possible lack of response. ))

(( Ditto. Nothing in that range. Saven would hear it, but Section 19 wouldn't let her do it anyway. Glory would be good, but she's too low. And the rude post doesn't really make you want to go anyway. Hey ho. ))

((If you had your head bitten off for handling of a GG situation that you didn't appreciate being dragged into by way of /tells left right and centre in a manner someone who wasn't even paying attention in the first place strongly disagreed with AND had a plot largely ignored by everyone before you ended up having to cram in some stupid and frankly unnecessary 'hook' just to get people to take the hell notice - oh, and had a character completely blanked even though he'd just fallen out of the sky and was ranting his head off like a complete trooper shortly after, ALL in the space of a few months, I think you'd understand, thankyooverymuch.

On a lighter note, I doubt a 2 level difference isn't really gonna make too much difference, Z. If you can make it that's great. ))

Not really. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and the matching boxer shorts (and I hate boxers). Being rude, doesn't help. Just guarantees people won't pay attention.))

Perhaps there's a REASON for that?

(( A hook is needed, a way in. This is best done subtly, but it has to be there. Two people talking in a cafe tend to get ignored by other people. Someone acting suspicious by an alley will get more attention - despite the two situations being aimed at the opposite...
Take a step back and look at the setting, would you as complete by stander (with super powers) step up and bud in? When in doubt, feel free to ask someone for their input. ))

(( Ah, such showboasting 'woe is me' characters tend to get ignored on default. In my time I've seen about 23 such 'crash from the sky' situations. Those that took it stoically and mearely acted a bit confused, those making an effort to politely interact to others instead of shoutingly demanding attention had the better responses. ))

This city definately needs an AA flying school 'cos that's a lot of face-planting skydivers. *punchline*

There's two building missions, followed by *makes throttling gestures at the devs* hunt mission before finishing off with one of those outdoor missions (Graveyard map >_&gt.

The two building missions shouldn't take long, and if need be, I can hold off from that point - I was gonna do the hunt mission solo under an IC excuse anyway - and do the graveyard mish tomorrow. :|

Most of the replies to this thread completely justify the initial faux pas. It's no ****ing wonder someone's gotten to the end of their tether in this place, what with the frequency Fatman, Ravenswing and ShadowGhost manage to shoot down ideas and plots with their charming levels of increasingly grating and unwelcome commentary.

Clearly the extra conjective claus the Original Poster felt necessary to add didn't quite deter any of you, so allow me to make it blunter and easier to understand.

Hatesman Style;

No one cares how or why you're NOT going to be doing the latest thing you've decided to relieve yourself all over. You're clogging up the first page of the thread, and deterring interest in a plot that barely even exists yet. (Which is like revieweing a movie based on the press release.)

If someone wants your opinion THEY'LL ASK FOR IT. Usually by putting a Question Mark anywhere in their initial post. Otherwise, keep the holier-than-thou-opinionated-pettiness-that-no-one-cares-about to a minimum and people won't be metaphorically telling you to shove your cop out rhetoric excuses up your backside before you get a chance to post them next time.
