I would assume on the basis that they are Mutation based and as you cannot have an SO drop at that level it has to twin with womething else

Which is still weird, because Lost, story-wise, are Science Origin.
Most likely reason is that Fusionette got it from some Mut/Mag mob, then the Lost robbed it from her when she was captured

After the net dropping here (again, twice now) finished the mission and collected a drop of a Gauntlet - Mutation/Magic. They 'could' have been fusionette's as she is mutation. Also a training range - why do Tanks always seem to get range enhancers? 
Next up was the Kurse mission, 2 drops 1 helmet (range) see above 1 necklace - 2hit DBuff. this looks increasingly like the reason she keeps getting caught, as she doesn't slot her enhancers properly

Useful for a stoney though for the ineviatable TP.
Probably the same reason my trollers get taunt ones or my kins get blues dropping almost exclusively at times

Lost are humans that simply got lost and was found by rikti forces (lore).
Some of these have magic in their blood. Rikti themselves has eradicated magic in their home and thus are less hardy versus it. But since a few lost have become Rikti.. and these new recruits had magic in their blood... well it will simply result in .. Rikti magus.
So its not wrong if it drops, even though they should have dropped mostly mutation enchantments.

I am on one of my low level alts, on the find fusionette mission. 1st in the faultline story arc, I have just defeated a scrounger slicer and get a D/O drop of amulet (Mutation/MAGIC). Now, point me to the 1st line of my sig - but something doesn't sit straight with that.
The lost are later on supposed to be Rikti who cannot use magic at all.
It begs the question - how did this scrounger get it so it would drop?
