Where did the other 2 come from? As far as I can remember there's only ever been 1 EU server for Tabula Rasa, Centaurus, which has been there since launch. The other 3 are based in the US.

I *think* he could be referring to the addition of the French and German Global Channels... which is just a little bit different to having 3 different servers for the EU.

The EU has only ever had 1 server for Tabula Rasa.

Just as a comparison, I went over to WAR to hook up with a RL friend. He needed me to buy the game because since beta ended, he has had precisely three PUGteams, none of them full and nowhere near getting a proper - scuse me - WAAAARGHband *splutter* together.

(Did I get that right or is it more towards the back of the throat?)

I've been a little luckier than that over the weekend, but it's never been better than a threesome at best and no-one talks.

Face it, kiddies, COH may be on the small side population-wise but it's very loyal, very healthy, and very sociable.


Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

Gotta agree. WaR felt very lonely. Played for 2 days with long sessions and while the pug system is great for just jumping in a team/pq no one speaks. Had one rvr team that were chatty but apart from that it is just silence.

I found the whole game pretty dull in comparison to CoX. Only got highest lvl 8 but have no desire to return.

Yes, my mistake. i meant to say they basicly got 3 servers in 1 (english/german/french). But afaik, parts of the language of zudunkf and viligance are coded serverside, so might give problems to do the same.

Fortunately my time is at a much lower premium, so I have just enough time to say:

Restricting content in such a limited number of servers (at least European side) in the way suggested would penalise players that wanted to play the game without RP, and offer more content to players that are more interested in interacting with each other than the environment.

I think that's a flawed approach mainly because you're trying to offer incentive for people to RP. Folks who want to RP will do so regardless of server environment inducements.

From what i can gather, it wouldnt be all that hard to set it up that way, as the language files are stored client side (I remember setting myself asian text at one point for a laugh). All that would happen is that you have 3 servers the same with no major difference (apart from maybe the change of language for /1 and setting english up to /11 or /12 depending on the *foreign* server you are on)

Thats one of the things i love about CoX is that in teams people can chat and have a laugh. It is a social game and it is a shame that some games dont partake of this.

It's not that simple. ALL contact dialog and mission text is stored serverside. Only minor things to do with the GUI are clientside. IMO, it was a VERY short sighted decision to do it this way as it means they HAVE to have a seperate server for each language. To change it would require completely redoing the EU version of the game, just as much work as doing the EU version to start with.

Perhaps if they ever make CoH2...

Sorry FFM, i was referring to TR in that last post, as to why its not all that hard to have seperate servers for other languages in TR....

Inside CoX though it is a lot harder, as almost everything is stored serverside...
