Sound systems aren't my are of expertise, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to stop subwoofer interference causing it to go bang every so often?

I really should do something about this signature.

Mostly just keep the cables and the subwoofer itself away from anything with a significant EMF or that might cause feedback (PCs, other speakers, microwaves, microphones, nuclear detonations, etc).

If it's going bang then it might just be feedback - if you have a microphone, especially if it's sitting on your desk, try turning it down (or off) and see if the problem goes away.

I don't use a mic, so I suspect it is picking up interference from other cables or the wireless router.

It could also be due to quality of cables connecting sub the soundsystem main panel or from soundsystem panel to soundcard and so on.

If its a good sound system try checking how good quality the cables are and if its worth replace them with better quality.

Few suggestions if the help you have received so far hasn't solved the problem, if it has then wonderful, otherwise..........

* Power cables will interfere with speaker cables if run close together. Keep the cables going in different directions.

* Mobile phones even when not being used check connectivity on a regular basis to the network, this is done via radio waves and can effect speakers, don't keep your phone near the woofer, even if on charge.

* If you have a wireless connection from not only a router but your keyboard and mouse as well these also use radio waves.

* Make sure that you have the most up to date drivers for your sound card.

* Clean the ports in the connections.

* Go into StartMenu, Settings, Control Panel, Sound and Audio devices, and at the bottom under speaker settings click on Advanced button, (not device volume), and make sure the drop down menu is correctly setup for a woofer. I have mine set to Surround 5.1

* Get headphones?
