Hehe it took me a while to decide on a length and i thought that if i get a good amount of entries i dont wanna spend ages reading through them all when i have other things to be doing on top of this event :P Think of it as a challenge to write something short but brilliant.
Hmm... i spose i could post a small part of the story i'm currently working on. Whole of it, is waaaaay past 800 words

800 words is a good challenge too, it's easy to go large when you get in the flow. Keeping within a strict word count is a lot trickier.
If I get time I'll cook something up, but I've got two stories on the backburner already (one of which being the third and final part of my Nucleopatra backstory) and work is getting a little mental at the moment with having to run both the warehouse and despatch department on my own until the end of August.

800 words? Hehe the character story I did for Steampunkette is only 11046 words over the mark. 
If your entry is something you have posted before, you can use it as an entry but please give me a link to where you posted it so i can confirm that it's your own piece of work

That was fun. As my initial notes came to 500 words and my first draft to 950 I didnt think Id get it down to 800 words, but I did it. Yay me!
Thanks again for the competition, it made me do a lot of self editing. Are you going to publish all the entries when its done or leave it to those who entered to publish them in the forums?
Hiya Mr wuffles, saw you the other night out teaming and you pointed me in the direction of this thread, forgot to look and hardly ever come into creative but glad I did today. Just one question though is this restricted to one entry per player, don't know if I could write more than one before the deadline but don't know which story to choose as I've got maybe 2 or 3 workable ideas. Also will you post the winners?

Howdy folks! 1 entry per person and once the competition is over i will post all entries. Nice to see people entering, once i install microsoft word on this computer i can begin judging because at the moment i don't want to manually count the words

I've come up with a new competition. Hooray! This is to celebrate getting my new computer and me reaching 50 for the first time a few weeks ago
Union's Hero Story Competition!!!
"What is it?" you may ask. This is a competition run by me in which heroes of the union server write a story, a fanfic about themselves you might say, to win influence.
Prizes!
1st place = 30 million influence
2nd place = 15 million influence
3rd place = 5 million influence
How to enter
All entries are to be submitted to me via email. My email address is mr.wuffles@gmail.com
Any entries submitted in this thread will be disquallified.
This thread is only to be used for questions about the competition. The subject of the email must be "Union Server Story Competition" and the body of your email should contain your story and your global name. Any emails which contain attachments will not be read and will be disquallified.
Judging
All entries will be read and judged by me. I will be using a strict marking scheme (see below) so people will not lose out because i don't like the area their story is set etc. Stories will be marked out of 200 marks.
Punctuation (20 marks) I don't want to spend my day reading badly written stories, i will let people off with spelling/fullstops etc since not all entries will be made by people who are fluent in english. However i will deduct marks for constant abreviations e.g. cuz instead of because and de instead of the.
Originality (90 marks) I don't want to read a thousand stories about a hero who was an experiment gone wrong and is now a green monster etc. I wan't to read things which are new and well... original! :P Points will be deducted if i feel the story is just a copy of a marvel hero or someother story which is well known.
Length (40 marks) The story is to be less than 800 words. 1 mark will be deducted for each word over the 800 limit, with a total of 40 marks able to be deducted for this.
Is it interesting? (50 marks) If your story is a dull passive piece which is making me sleepy you will lose marks. I will however read through each piece no matter how boring.
The deadline for entries is July 24th at midnight UK time.
