Broadswording Brutes

Merely a small annoyance I have been having for some time; ever since weapon customization has been introduced, more models have been made available for the BS set than any other. The fact that no villains can access these new features (Coolest looking ones in the game so far IMO) just gets to me a little bit. Since it was missed out in powerset proliferation I was wondering if there is a chance of it happening at any point in the future?

BS brutes will be in issue 13.

I really should do something about this signature.

Well; there you go then, cheers

Out of curiosity, do you think they'll modify the powerset in any way for Brutes and Tankers? Possibly boosting up the base damage a little bit to make up for damage modifiers, with a subtle nerf to Parry?

if they finally make some descent swords, not even one cloud-like sword......

I don't think they will modify the base values. They will of course change in line with AT modifiers, which means tanker Parry will give a bigger buff than scrapper and brute parry.

I'm thinking descent swords would be very situational dependent or one use only... but maybe that's just me.

Also, is there an echo in here?

BAB, on why there are no stupidly large broadswords in game:

[ QUOTE ]
I'm not opposed to having gigantic weapons in the game, but in order to sell them we'd need a different style of two handed animations. That would not only require new power animations, but also core animations for things like running, jumping, getting hit, etc. Adding yet another 'sword' type powerset into the game is probably just not the best avenue right now. I'd much rather get something like staffs, whips, dual pistols/blasters, etc....things that we don't really have as of yet.

We're never going to be able to provide the exact animations, weapons, costume pieces, etc to precisely fit every single player's imagined hero. The best we can do is try and hit the broad catagories and get you close, while still providing enough variety for everyone else.

Can't say it'll never happen, it just won't happen with any of the current powersets/animations.

[/ QUOTE ]

It is worth reading it in context.

mmm, i see, but still.
in a way, it could be done, but it might look a little bit unrealistic.
you still have a big sword, but you can move it just to fast for it's weight :P

[/ QUOTE ]Exactly why I think they might want to modify the base values. Otherwise we're going to have BS Tankers running around with easily softcapped Defense and abysmally low (and horribly resisted) damage.

That is, of course, unless they consider the lame base damage (lethal to boot) to be a fair tradeoff for Parry.

I don't see why they wouldn't. It's a tankers job to take damage, not to do it.

Stone Armor/Broad Sword gonna be THE survivability combo from now on?

Posted

Not really. Stone already has plenty of lethal res that that part will be useless, and the melee def won't be enough to stand out from the typed defences unless double stacked, which will be harder with granite's -rech. I'd say that parry really doesn't offer much to stone.

I'm betting that Broadsword will have a bigger impact on other sets.

Posted

WP/BS probably the suvivability combo. Stone and Ice are the ones that won't have the best synergy, and might want to skip Parry.

Stalker Electric Armour proves that they don't change powers just because the proliferated version is rubbish.

Right, my bad, forgot the typed/positional thing.

And I do see your point in regards to /Elec Stalkers... Ah well.
