PB / WS comparison

If you where to have to come up with an AT powerset combination that compares most closely to each epic class what would it be?
ie Pb's are like a Nrg/Elec blaster or Ws like a Fire/Dark Tank

PB : Scrapper with a couple of ranged attacks.

WS : Controller with below par holds.

Very broad descriptions them, because they aint really like anything else.

It's really an impossible comparison to make. I suppose a WS could be somewhat likened to a Dark/Dark/Dark/Dark Blaster/Controller/Tank, depending on what powers you pick

A PB might be a Nrg/Nrg/Nrg/Nrg Blaster/Tank/Scrapper with some Defendery powers thrown in there

Icelock - Ice/Storm Controller
Command Bot 1 - Bot/Traps MM

Both WS and PB aren't really comparable as the are VASTLY different.

Human Form for PBs is significantly more balanced, self-heals, good attacks, Dull Pain and Heal Other. Cool stuff. At 38 you gain a PB version of unstoppable. Human Form tends to have huge Endurance Problems until very late.

Nova Form for PBs underperforms because their self-buff (Build-Up) is weak and only lasts 10 seconds. Also, the 38 shield denies you to go into Nova Form.

Dwarf Form for PB is a great tank with roughly 60% ResAll except Psi. Due to the Foot Stomp, you qill be able to hold aggro decently.

Overall the PB gets good powers early on (up until the 20s) and all the 32+ powers are a bit underperforming - with the exception of Light Form.

Build vary from Human-only to Human-Dwarf or Triform. All three are viable an possible.

The Human Form of the WS is a mixed bag of control and self-buffs. Many powers of the Human form require live or dead foes for buffage (Acc Dam Heal End). This makes the Buffs very variable: Tiny and horrible, if used incorrectly. VERY good when used well. The human form gains one of the arguably best pets in CoH.

The Nova Form of the WS is arguably more useful than the PB version. You get Slow as a secondary effect and all the WS self-buffs carry over for 30 seconds. This goes for the 38 power, too.

The Dwarf Form of the WS is more for self-buffing than for tanking. You get an additional 30 sec self-buff (Acc+Dam) and have a heal that restore more health per sec than the PB version but has a ToHit check. The Black Dwarf has huge problems holding aggro!

Overall the WS is pretty confusing as it wants to be played Triform with constant buffing, switching forms and drawing pets. [Human oder Twoform builds are possible, but definitely not as advisable as for PBs]. You get very, very good powers later (32 and onwards) and a mixed bag before that.

Expect to rely on a friendly Buffer for status protection, as both playstyle and form changing will make you very vulnerable to status attacks.

Ah the old chestnut. For me, having just recently gotten back into my PB after being in love with my WS for a long time, I'd say that so far as triform builds go, the PB is definitely more melee oriented, what with its scrappery attacks and its slight edge in tanking ability, whereas the WS is notoriously, a "puprple flying fortress of doom" as someone once said - it's a bit more like a super blaster when fully buffed. That's probably about as general a picture as you can get, because actually both ATs are hugely versatile, with the PB being a bit more Defender flavoured and the WS being a bit more Controller flavoured. Both ATs can tank and blast, and both ATs have lots of other options wrt utility powers in human form, as well as the option of going all human, with various sub-flavours there too.

For some reason they seem to be a love/hate thing. Me, I absolutely adore my Kheldians - I love being able to maximise the team by filling in any "holes" it might have - e.g. if there's no tank I can tank, if there's no controller I can control as a WS, if there's no Defender I can heal as a PB; if there's not much damage I can fill in as a blaster with either, or a scrapper with PB. Really, the options for builds and playstyles is wide open.

My take on this is whatever you decide to make them into, they will be, if you want to play them controller, its possible if you want to play them tank, its possible if you want to play blaster, you can etc.

It just depends on your power selection and your preference.

just to brag a little, i think ive actually discovered a PB that is GOOD in solo pvp.

Your not finding out what it is though yet so nya nya lol

Edit: the only classes you cant really play them as are masterminds and stalkers, everything else is possible in my opinion.
