Earth/.. How could i ever live without you...

PS how many Procs do you count in earth?
[/ QUOTE ]
12, 13 if you count the one in stoney.
Theres only 3 in storm in my build and 2 in the epics.
Defiant's GoEH/MILITIS METUS
Just to add.
Grav 'could' have alot of procs added but its got nowhere near the amount of AoE's that earth has.
I'm talking AoE destruction here which Earth has in spades.
As for spammable powers in Earth theres 4 possibly 5 i can think of and if you take Earth epic theres fissure to and thats before i even start on the secondary.

Chels is right but I can also see Cognito's point about added damage from storm. With her build, had she a different secondary than storm the damage output would still be amazing though. In my case is a more blurry line, I don't have as many procs (yet) but being Earth/Rad/Fire, my damage is more or less delivered equally from Earth procs, Stoney and Fire Blast/Fire ball, all them enhanced from rad effects.
Earth/Empathy might not be as good output damage as earth/storm, but still has got some potential, specially with Fire epic. With the riight procs on earth, plus epic pool fire damage and stoney on perma fortitude Earth/Empathy can become quite interesting too, not saying it can solo through missions as fast as a fire/kin or even a scrapper but could do good nevertheless.
Edit: Mentioned Fire epic because I am only familiarized on fire epic for controllers, there may be a better suited one ofc, but I mentioned what I used so far.
Edit2: I mentioned earth/empath because Cognito used it as an example and I mixed this thread with the one about Earth/Empathy trollers in the Controllers section, sorry about that, see, it's 46ÂșC here and my brain is fried above usual levels I am afraid
I must be missing a trick here... I played around with Mid's, and I couldnt get more than 7 damage procs. Admittedly, I wasnt counting purples, or stoney.
Well i haven't used any purples.
Defiant's GoEH/MILITIS METUS
Procs
Fossilize = 2 (3 with purple)
Stone Cages = 2
Quicksand = 1
Stalagmites = 1
Earthquake = 3
Volcanic Gasses = 2 (3 with purple)
Animated Stone = 1 (not counting Res bonus or Chance for BU procs)
So theres a chance for a possbile 14
Defiant's GoEH/MILITIS METUS
Ah,I presume then that Mid's is in error and the immobs / holds etc can be slotted with -def debuff Ios
Gravity (excluding purples)
Crushing Feild: 2
Lift: 1
Gravity Distortion: 2
Crushing Feild: 3
Propel: 1
Gravity DIstortion Feild: 1
Wormhole: 1
Singulrity: 1
Total: 12
Pretty close thing IMO. Especially if you discount the AoE hold power (hardly spammable).
Yeah, but gravity makes things fall to earth....
I'll take my coat

Thats the problem with Grav the immobs and the single target hold are the only things spammable where as Earth its all 1 shot AoE's that will tick the dmg over time but if you can lay afew of those AoE's down it soon mounts up then you have your spammable powers for extra dmg.
If you herd and use those AoE's things die very quickly.
Its a balance between crowd control,safety and dmg everything which Grav lacks.

My mids allows it ..always has.
Think you need to update it.

Id have to say thats completely contrary to my experience. I have a level 50 Grav troller and a level 38 erth controller.
Earth easily outperforms in terms of crowd control. I imagine in *potentially* outperforms in terms of AoE damage with enough procs. Although, for instance, my earth controllwers quicksand is proc'd for damage and i am not impressed.
But in terms of ST damage and control Grav is simply streets ahead. Propel gives Grav the best ST damage of any controller, end of story. In addition, the quickly spammable lift gives more ST control than Earth. Lastly, Singularity gives the most control of any pet (and if you use its repel aura correctly, LOT of safety).
In a big team, id go with earth, no question.
Solo, Id take Grav any day of the weak. It leaves Earth trailing.
Now the only difference I can see is that you have slotted earthquake for damage procs (fair enough, Im going to do that too, but its not perma - i work out its something like verge 35 damage per tic with both procs) and that you have one more proc in AoE immobilise. But I cant see that compensating for Propels ST attack chain, myself.

Can I ask in which way you are not impressed mate? I mean, on dmg terms or on activation frequency? My proc in quicksand is the one I see triggering more often but I guess it is just the others are not so obvious due to having more floating numbers, but I can see it activating everytime I cast quicksand, on damage terms that would be obviously another matter ofc, I am happy with mine but that doesn't mean anyone else is happy with same figures.
Oh i like Quicksand as a power,dont get me wrong. I just dont see much damage from the procs. Its noticible, just rather lacklustre IMO.
EDIT: I am beginning to suspect the key thing here is the tick ratel i wonder if it is slow for QS but higher for EQ?
I'd agree Grav is ahead on ST damage but thats not really what we're talking about is it.
I think you must be doing something wrong with Earth as my earthquake/VG are both up every mob and Quicksand recharges fast enough so it can be layered so its not just 1 proc firing.
So for example EQ,VG,2 quicksands, stone cages is what 9 procs firing plus you have VG's inherent damage.
EQ and VG actualy recharges faster on Doms to !
So lets do alil math here.
Mids says each proc is 71.8% dmg at lvl 50.
Not counting stone cages and just going with the AoE's
6 procs X 71.8 = 430 possible every 10 seconds
Then theres stone cages i can cast every 3 seconds for 143% dmg.
Fossilize at 2 seconds for another 143.6% dmg
And i've not touched the secondary yet
Believe me i farm with this many procs and can clear the CoT behemoth map in alittle under 15 mins mostly with QS,VG,EQ,stalagmites,stone cages and lighting storm and fissure from the epics.
Hurricane to herd and i never use stoney.
Defiant's GoEH/MILITIS METUS
Interesting stuff. Im certainly going to take a look at my Earth Controller again. I havent slotted earthquke for damage procs and I strongly suspect that "tics" a lot faster than Quicksand.
Im not a farmer (actually, very militantly antifarming) so i cant comment there, and will never attempt to do so.
Even so, good suggestions there. Time fora dust off and respec!

Oh i'm with you 100% there but when you really want something having a toon that can do it really helps and an hour every so often doesn't cut into your game time.
Defiant's GoEH/MILITIS METUS
Personally, Id rather spend2 hours doing a fun task force with nice people than 30 mins with mindlessly repetative farming in the company of people who like to farm.
Only slightly more if you have someone who can herd with Disruption Field on. And Rad has +dmg (as well as -regen and +rechg which translate into shorter fights). Sonic Resonance is a good secondary, but hardly a damage-oriented one. How many fire/sonic farmers (or superteams) have you seen around?
CoX 50s: <ill/rad> <ice/ice> <fire/kin> <grav/sonic> <ice/storm> <earth/kin> <kin/elec> <cold/psy> <thugs/dark> <fire/dark> <dark/elec> <night widow> <EM/ninj> <mind/icy>
