Student SG?
Rather than promote an SG for similar age ranges, why not try theming your SG to something that would attract the masses?
For example, The Femme Fatales...an SG just for female hero toons; The Elflings...an SG full of elves/eflings.
When I first created my SG, The GoEH, it was aimed to helping players within the community and organising events. Over the years we've attracted a wide variety of players of all ages and different likes.
You'll find a wider variety of ages with different themes, but all with something in common otherwise they wouldn't have joined your SG.

yes i did find omega fun but as i went with 4 others from my Sg we tended to keep together but i was expecting more of a community feel rather than hiding behind the monitor
plenty of people of all ages play coh so i dont think a student themed sg would have a wide enough appeal ( mind you im an old fa*t haha ),
i think cap could be right a themed sg is alwasy fun or get into a coalition with other active sg and get teams and maybe people crossing over the help support your sg
you would be more than welcome to give us a shout if you are struggling
Kinda like the idea of a student themed sg, but how do you prove your a student

Simple!
1. They will know who Lily Allen is.
2. They stay up late. (I did a Psychological experiment on that for my A-Levels, its true!)
3. Ummm. . . Student ID card? xD
Good idea though xP
In regards to the OP, did you make an effort to approach other gamers?
I went up for the TF: Omega, met Solaris for the first time (my nipples are still recovering*), met the rest of our team, and then at various points during the course of the weekend, met other players, either through introductions, people recognising my name or vice versa.
*Long story

You loved it, I loved it...everyone was happy!
[edit] as you can see, despite our "maturity" we still act as students...so maybe it could've worked and we could have been possible candidates for your SG. XD

Woah woah, lets slow down on the maturity! I'm only 23!
Hey guys,
I went to the Omega Sektor event, hoping I'd find someone who'd recognise me, as I decided to wear a white t-shirt and wrote my most notable char names on the back in marker pen (including powersets and AT)!
No one spoke to me for 6 hours, and I felt VERY lonely as none of my global friends could make it. Eventually some kid started talking to me and I ended up teaming with him and his bro and his mate.
Still, yes, although it was Easter Sunday, I didn't see many students there in comparison to the over 30's, and the 5 or 6 students (or c.20 years old ppl) that were there seemed to have brought a friend along or seemed happy by themselves.
My SG, 'Astral Horizons' is kinda dead, though it did used to work well, and we had enough prestige to earn us a very nice, small base, with 7 telepads to all city hazard zones.
I'm 20 years old, and I thought, "Wudn't it be nice to see at the next event, a group of students together, talking not just about CoH, but anything, as they're all in the same kinda boat, and to see students meet other students who play the game?"
Then I came up with an idea for turning my (currently inactive) SG into a 'student-aimed' SG, for ppl aged 16-30 (with requests outside the age range gladly accepted!) so that on CoH there'd be a way for ppl to interact with other players who have something in common. No offence, but a 40-year-old will probably wanna talk about something different, or at least something in a different manner, to a 20-year-old.
This is NOT an ageist group. The age range is just a suggestion and as I said, requests outside the age range would be welcome.
Any comments? Reactions? Or does anybody want to join?
I am looking for some people to help me lead it regularly so by summer, we could really get some events going.
