A Question About Poser Modelling.
*turns a soulasylum distress beacon on*
i'm a simple 2D soul i'm afraid, but i'd expect it's something like 'do the basic model in poser, then bring it into photoshop for the fancy stuff'. sorry i can't help

I only work 3D Max.
I would assume though that you either make the model then touch up the renders in photoshop as Doc Destiny suggested.
Or:
Make a texture/material file in photoshop then use that in the 3d program you are using.
But you should find a lot of interesting tutorials by simply googling "adding textures in poser" or something similar (also try searching for materials instead of textures.)
Would also be fun to make a bump map based on your pattern if you want to give it just a touch of volume.
At last! Found this thread from Soulasylum explaining the steps she goes through to create her art in Poser. Unfortunately, it's in French but the linked images might help.
Making a texture file would probably be best - it'd sve having to draw the patten in postwork after each render was done.
But Google is not giving me much help right now

try these links (I dont know poser so dont know how much they help)

and

(which has tutorials for dynamic hair and one for super-hero poses (which isn't doing much other than telling people to do research and import background pictures to help you work))

Just looking at the pictures, I can see she's going about it a different way - it's more artisitc than what I'm planning - I'm trying to make a model that can be easily posed and used in several picture, rather than building a one-use scene.

Meh, it was worth the effort to find that thread if it made you look at the process with a different eye.
But by all means do your thing ^^
At the very least, SoulAsylum's techniques will be usefull for creating costumes pieces that you don't have models for. Otherwise you'll be stuck with whatever you can find online, and most of that isn't going to match costume pieces from CoH. 3DMax is a pretty essential tool when working with Poser, really.

Well if you want one model to just move around for various poses, 3DMax would indeed be nice. Build the basic skeleton, wrap a skinaround teh bones and then voila
Which reminds me, I really need to finish my 3DMax teddy bear one of these days. Adding the fur kinda overwhelmed me...

I've got all the parts I need - cape, boots, gloves, skirt, top - it's just the stars and stripes pattern I need

I have a question about using the Poser 3D modelling software, and hope that maybe an experienced user here might be able to help me.
I've just gotten the program recently, and I want to make an image of my CoH avatar, but I can't work out how to recreate the pattern from my boots and gloves onto Poser boots and gloves - does anyone know how to do this, or have a link to a site that might explain how to do it?
