Bonjou! The Fourth Wall is about to open its doors once again this Wed night at 8pm! The new manager, Jean-Luc Santeres, has spared no expense for his esteemed guests and members and thanks them for their patience while he has been redesigning the club and preparing it for 2008!

Members and guests alike will be pleased to note the addition of a dancefloor and stage, where the band "Wildflower" - brought to us our gracious investors - will be keeping us entertained with rock/punk and covers to keep us dancing the night away.

We have added a new room to the Fourth Wall, a V.I.P section/restaurant we have named "Zydeco". The Zydeco is a simple black bean which was considered "poor food" in Kreyol Louisiana, but is now a delicacy and can be found in the finest cuisine of New Orleans. Our chefs bring you Kreyol fusion food with the following "opening menu" for our special guests who may dine at their ease. The atmosphere in this room is one of leisure; we have added a sound-barrier to keep conversations in the VIP private and to screen the music from the rest of the club. There is a grand piano in the corner however, if you simply cannot resist the urge to play.

Fusion cuisine is a great way for a chef to show his artistry and flair, but this is also Kreyol food; namely, the main requirement being "Let there be a LOT of food!" Our dishes are served in the large soup-bowls of New Orleans, and our wines are carefully selected to compliment the menu. Please, manje!!

Starter: Mackerel terrine with wild mushrooms and crisp rounds of lightly toasted baguette

Soup: Zydeco soup - our namesake! This simple soul-food soup has been "fancified" with the addition of fines herbs, a hearty stock splashed with fine wine.

Main Course: Shrimp Etouffe; classic Kreyol, king prawns are drenched in a thick, hearty roux, spicy and bold, served over rice. We recommend a Bourdeaux wine with this dish.

Vegetarian option: Okra Jambalaya; graciously stocked with grilled vegetables in a roux, further fortified with the strong, bold taste of miso, all served over a bed of rice. You might even be able to convince your carnivore partner to have a bite or three of this.

Dessert Course: Bananas Foster; a classic dish from New Orleans, ripe sliced bananas are flambe'ed at your table in rich spiced rum, then poured over our homemade vanilla ice cream for you to enjoy. Or perhaps you'd like to sample of Homemade Pecan Pie, rich as toffee, you'll only need a slice...maybe two.

Cheese, nuts, and cafe brulot; a liqueur coffee, very sweet, which is flamed till the sugar carmelises.

Eat, dance, drink, and be merry, from all at the Fourth Wall, byenvenu

OOC Bit:

Okay, ladies and gents, here it is, opening the Fourth Wall. Just going through the "terms and conditions" bit. The rules of the Fourth Wall haven't changed. If you need a refresh, please have a look here if you need a refresh. For anyone who isn't a coalition member, please contact me and we'll try to get you in a group to come and visit, failing that please create some alts in advance to add to the supergroup, and specify whether what member status you wish for.

We are going to try this Wed night to see how attendance goes. If it works, then we'll stick to opening every Wed night. If not, we'll try another.

If anyone has Coalition status and for whatever reason no longer wishes to have it, please let me know as I do have other SGs in a queue to join. However this is not pressure to kick anyone off provided the space is being used.

We have some new staff on board, and we hope they'll be able to make it however I understand real life comes first and foremost.

We do have a band willing to play the gig. Due to the game mechanics, it will be assumed they are playing music, but we won't be spammed continuously with lyrics. A write up of the "playlist" as it were will be done later after the event.

Thank you everyone for being so patient with me as I got this set up and faffed with the club a bit. I'm hoping you all enjoy the Fourth Wall.

((OOC - A big thank you to everyone who turned up to this, and also a welcome to the supergroup, NHU, who joined the coalition last night.

I think attendance could be a bit better however, and I am thus considering moving the next opening night for 4th Wall for 14 January, which is a Monday night. I'm going to shuffle this round a few times till I find the day when most people can manage to attend.

Again, thanks for coming round and I hope it was an enjoyable evening, writeup to follow!))

Keep in mind that no matter what night you choose, there will be people who can't come, so perhaps there could be one MAIN night without that having to mean that the place it closed the other nights?

I know no matter what, there will be people who won't be able to show up. And yes, what we're doing is an official night. The problem with having it open all the time was that NO ONE showed up last time. There'd be people in the channel asking if anyone was going, but not a whole lot of initiative to go. That's human nature - once the initial buzz wears off people get bored. Hence having the club only "open" one night a week. It doesn't mean it's off limits or anything, it is open to be used (hence the concept of "private parties" and VIP space), but it still has to tempt people enough to want to come and use it in the first place.

So I'm still trying to find the best possible day for the most people, which may take a few weeks. After that, we'll just settle on a day and people will have to try and make do. All I ask is people USE the space. Coile put a fair bit of work and thought into the concept for people to use the space and the coalition. It's up to the players, however, to show the interest.

Does that mean that we can or can't use it on other nights as just the bar?

IIRC, Monday nights are the new Militia mission nights (Militia Mondays) and additionally I think Mondays are the official weekly base RP meeting for The Silent Tempest. That's already two not insubstantial groups of RPers who wouldn't be able to attend until after other commitments in-game were finished.

Wednesdays are still the main GG night aren't they? Certainly Wednesdays are the Hyperion Watchmen's one and only official night each week, and while the Watchmen are not the largest RP SG by anyone's imagination, that's still a fair few people with IC access to the 4th Wall that would be anable to attend on that night. THat's what kept myself and several others out of the grand reopening last night at least.

Tuesdays then?

If people are happy with Wed, then we'll keep that. If not, then we'll move nights. I did ask some time ago what would be the best time, and since there was no protest about Wed, that's what I went with.

Understanding people and supergroups are often busy. I may be faced with the rather unpleasant requirement of having to shuffle Coalition members around depending on which are more active and willing to use the space. No, I'm not looking forward to that one, but it's all part of the deal. If there are SGs who are coalitioned who really don't forsee themselves coming to the 4th Wall, then please let me know and we'll shift things over to give those SGs on the waiting list a go. This is also true for the new groups cropping up as "alt supergroups" and so forth, as I know a few folks who are phasing out their mains and starting new projects, and therefore may want another Supergroup in the main slot.

My main raison d'etre here is to keep the Fourth Wall active - people can use it as they see fit (yes, again Erth, like I said, people can use it on "unofficial nights" but it's the official nights I'm working on at the moment). I intend on doing holiday parties and such to give the place a point and purpose.

If people are happy with Wed nights, then we'll roll with that. Just let me know before Friday, folks, what you want to do, and even though I probably won't be able to please 100% of the population, I'll try to at least go for the majority consensus.

Yes, fully appreciate that its likely that with so many RPSGs (and VGs too, since that still may take several Roleplayers out of other play) any night will sacrifice some.

Personally, I know that Romanov and I are pretty much only looking at either Tuesdays or Fridays as days free of other ongoing RP commitments (so far) and even one of those will soon be committed to a pretty substantial RP project.

I'd certainly love to involve Suzi Mitchell (nee White) a lot more with RP at the 4th Wall, and she'd have certainly attended the reopening were it not for needing to be with The Watchmen. I'm not complaining about Wednesdays at all, merely trying to say we're not ignoring you by not attending on Wednesdays.

On the general matter, it strikes me that the IC world is mirroring the real world. Clubs these days often struggle to compete for attention, and most clubs offer themed nights (open mike, DJs, booked bands, etc) in order to fill themselves at least one night a week and thus be profitable. Perhaps you need to roll with that, and use this as a spur to RP creative promotion efforts by the club as it struggles to draw people away from other clubs and commitments.

There are not a few musician heroes and celebrity heroes who might be called upon as performers for instance, and who then might bring their own fans and friends. Off the top of my head I can name the Amber Banshee (but not Mondays), The Last Word (but not Wednesdays), and Nene And The Nines (not sure of other regular commitments for Zortel).

Just an idea that I hope you can use somehow. The 4th Wall is a great idea and when I can attend I will.

Also, perhaps opening two different nights allows the most people who want access to have access at least once?

Sounds like Tuesday is good day. And sorry I was a bit slow, but I just wanted to be absolutely sure. I really like to have a bar free of the tools and whatnot that hang out in the D. It's a really nice initiative.

I also agree with Ammon that perhaps two nights would be ideal, as it'd allow more to use the place than if they are so unlucky that it's only open on the night they're busy.

I appreciate you doing this Netherwitch

Right - for those who attended, could I get a quick writeup from people about your "Fourth Wall" experience? It will go into a newspaper review; namely looking for info re: the band, how heroes felt about the new space, the food, the staff, etc. I didn't want to create an article without getting proper feedback from everyone - good or bad (*grins at Powerdrive - you poor grumpy git*)

In other news - I believe next week we are going to try for Tuesday, again 8 till late. There is also something I am potentially going to need a few interested parties for regarding the Villain rehab programme, so I'll get in touch about that as well.

Cheers!

Thanks Hatesman, for your article (gah, bloody Barry Manilow Easy Listenin'...*mutter*)! I'm just putting details together about the Carnivale event but I need a good long think first.

This ties into my second bit; I am totally utterly and completely burnt out on mission running. If I log in, I'm logging in for rp, and that's rather thin on the ground at the moment. So, if you need the Loupster for any arrpeez, please drop me a line and I'll try and coordinate a time when I'll be ingame.

Cheers

Yeesh. How long did that take? More repetitive missions anyone? ...Cos I'm stuffed too.

It took a few months. I've been playing a Dominator which is a lot of fun, but for the most part I log in to see if there's any rp I can get into, and if not, I log off. Missions are so done for me.

But there's always mixing it up as Loup owes Hatesman some pain.

Fourth Wall again tomorrow from 8 till late. I am looking for people and ideas for the Carnivale and I think I will post an ad in the Paper thread for this.

I also apologise in advance as once again I'm rather ill, so I haven't been about much, but we'll see you on the morrow.
