Defiant Channels
Two channels I tend to use a lot are Defiant Events and DefiantBadgers. (Sadly the latter doesn't quite have as many members in it now as it once did due to being repeatedly wiped out by the global bug a while back. )
@Nanas (on Defiant)
I also have the need team channel, but its a union/defiant channel, so you should always say which server you're on.
Also there is the defiant Raid channel, set up for raids
Wouldn't it be better for the badge and event channels to be combined?

I'd be in favour of them combining, many people usually send messages to both in most cases anyway. Both are quite active, though I'd say Events is possibly more so.

And I agree with Mr. TPF, both Badgers and Events seem to be active, especially of an evening or weekend.

Other 50's Ph10x Brute Unjust Law Tanker Samantha Urai Scrapper Codename 1250 Scrapper
Cepheus Defender Nilus Scrapper Electro Field Blaster S.PONGE Tanker
Events would cover mothership and Hamidon raids, as well as costume competitions, right?
If so, then that makes the raid channel kinda pointless...

uhm, no. the channel is set up for the teamleaders. and you don't want to see all the different messages on defiant event when raids are being held. people not on a raid don't want en/or need thier chatbox full of messages.
Well, the badge and event ones could still be combined then.

I've now joined these two channels and they do seem a lot more populated. Thanks for the answers guys. See you on there. I've also kept Chat running as well, just in case anyone decides to log on to it like I did.
Hi All
I use both the event and badge channel on defiant and as people have said before duplicate messages seem to be sent to both so I'd be in favour of combining the two channels.
I've gotten by with just Badgers for the last 4/5 months...but have added Events recently (mainly so I don't miss what Cha'ron is running ). A combination seems like a nice idea, but I'd be worried of killing off any of the beautiful differences between them...ie: "Badgers- anyone up for negociator badge" = specifically a badge request, right? Guess there's a similar scenario where "Events" is more appropriate
Well it depends how picky we want to be
Somebody announcing a Spelunker mish might think "yeah that's definitely one for the Badgers' channel". But one might easily argue it's also a notable event worth announcing the same way as a TF. Similarly, somebody wanting to arrange a buy-sell farming session for the Consignment House badges could get away with posting to both, ie a badge effort or an event. And finally, a general announcement for a Raid could be relevant both to Events but also to Badgers since badges are involved
Most of the stuff I see on either of the channels could arguably be posted quite justifiably in both of them. The only things I can think of that we do get on one but perhaps wouldn't fit into the other channel are:
- Announcement of cossie contests (Events, not Badgers')
- Discussion and queries on badge collecting (Badger's, not Events)
And if we aren't forgiving enough to allow those, then we could always merge the two under a new more broadly encompassing name.
Of course that might annoy some people that will have to change channels, but seriously if they are gaining one free global channel slot, isn't that enough?
I agree with Dark Spider on raid leader channels.
Just thought it might be useful for you guys to know how it works over on Onion.
Union badgehunters has everything badge related (duh?) but also includes TFs, Trials, etc
Union Auctioners typically isnt used as much as I would have hoped, but when it is used people tend to ask on pricing of items, if anyone wants to sell privately that sorta thing.
Union Chat has anything you want to chat about, CoX related or otherwise. It was originally created to have a place where we could attempt to move alot of the unrelated chat on Badgehunters to here. Typically 2 or more groups would be talking about more than one thing and actual badge requests and shouts would be spammed out.
Mothership raids does what it says on the tin really. Since the buzz over raids has died down a bit the channel usage has been limited as of late but it still used to organize the weekly raids and the occasional Hammi.
Not sure if this would be helpful to you guys or not just thought it might. I am an operator of each of the above channels need any help just give me a shout on here.
When I thought about joining the channels I presumed they would be the same across both servers - same names, same uses. It would be nice to achieve this, but I suspect there is too much momentum now to swap things around.
As long as there are some channels and players can find them (GG, should the Defiant channels be noted in the New Player sticky post?) I can't imagine it matters a great deal what they're called or what they're used for.
The important thing is that players use them.
Following on from the New Player Initiatives, I thought I'd make an effort to join in a bit more and log on to the various channels.
Defiant Badgehunters
Defiant Chat
Defiant Auctioners
Badgehunters seems to have a couple of people in it. Chat didn't exist, and Auctioners I've not checked out as I've hit my channel limit (with Union ones as well).
Does anyone else use these? Should we all join them, and should they be published, even if it's just a good place to chat? Have I got the spellings correct? Am I on everyone's global ignore and don't realise it? Is everyone hiding on the Auctioners channel? Should Auctioneers be Auctioneers? If we are going to run them can we set a MoTD (I tried on the chat one, but couldnt get the command to work)? Are there too many questions here? Should I have made it in to a bullet point list? How do I get my kitten out of my printer?
