The tech suit with flags is also another good idea to me, although it does have me wondering (perhaps a little naiively) if in the future, there would be no seperate countries politically speaking, just Earth as a united whole (Against the Rikti/Shivans maybe?) with a single planetary defence corps. to guard the whole planet.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe in the future political boundaries will be gone, but just thinking about what it's like in the UK today, although we are all 'British' if you ask people they are proud to say they are 'Welsh', 'Scottish', 'English' etc. with even people from smaller regional locations being proud of their heritage (I'm Liverpudlian / Glaswegian / Mancunian / Cockney etc.). My point is that even if/when Earth becomes one nation, I think people will always refer to their roots.

For this purpose, the futuristic high-tech idea could be 'the blademasters of Europa' where Europe has become a superstate and this force is their supersoldier programme. The Tattoo's could be the mark that Supersoldiers get once they have proved themselves or something that appears on their face after under going the genetic manipulation, to give them the willpower powers (this would lead everyone in the team to have a mutant / science origin?)

Why the swords and not futuristic guns? Maybe the time travel technology that the Europa scientists have doesn't allow the transportation of complicated technology....only biological material and simple weapons (like swords) - hence why the training / genetic manipulation has taken place in the future to send back in time to help prevent the upcoming disaster that obviously the leaders of Europa want to avoid.

Plausible, and well thought. I like it. I even have a name for a char spring to mind, but am keeping that little doozy a secret.

I think the Future-tech blademasters is getting my absolute vote.

I have a name aswell, so are we going for the Blademasters sg then?

Anyone else want to speak up with a negative?

I agree as well, but want to make some clarification points.

First thing to say is that I completely agree on the tattoo-scar, as a unifying mark.

Secondly, are we eventually going with our own style (except the scar) or create the character with a specific suit in mind?
If so:
1)Will we implement the "national colouring" idea?
2)Will we implement the unified tech suit? If so, character and story wise, as Battery pointed out, we cant bring any future tech back here so...how can we wear future tech uniforms?

Im up for any of this, although I believe to go with our own style for starters and then create a common suit (depends on what we decide on the style). Afterall, some of us may want to blend in to this age (hints to myself ) and start up with a set of clothes, that suit the today's trends. It's all up to characters personallity afterall.

EDIT: Also, will we have absolute ties to the Ouroboros storyline, or an independent timeline that is placed at the future?

Good point about the tech suit.....although it is only tech in name, if the willpower powers come from genetic manipulation and the super sword skills come from years of training at the Europa academy of excellence*. I just put that thing in to explain why we were wielding non blasty powers.

*not the real name!

I suppose that because we can have different costume slots, it isn't too much of a problem to have a similar design of cossies in one of the slots is it?

The indivduality of what motivated our individual characters to sign up to go back in time / join the supersoldier program can be upto us.

Agreed that we should have the face tattoos showing, in all costumes. The only reason that I thought about country flags, as a colour scheme for the uniform is that it's quite a comicky thing to do (see captain american / Britain, Wonder Woman etc) and rather than us all looking the same, it will help to differentiate us. Plus it's not unlikely that there would be more than one character from any one country, as it would be a talent based search over europe?

Flags lend themselves a bit more than just going for colours, as once the popular colours / names go, I hardly think there'll be arush to make a character if your assigned shade is lilac or pink. I of course reserve the right to stand corrected!

I'll be sweden then.
EDIT: I needs a name.

I would like to sign up - Wales is the country of my birth so I'll get my thinking cap on with regards to a Welsh Blademaster name.

Is there any limit on what the characters look like other than having the face tattoo and one of the cossie slots being the Stealth costume in the country of your choosings colours?

Are we going to be human? Height / skin colour / Human hair colours or is anyone making an alien?

Union COH
Mongoose, Polar Star, Count Caldera, Psylana, Atomic Force, Obsidian Moon, Cleddyfwyr, Psylance, Cheetar

Union COV

I think that species and race are entirely down to the player. You want metahuman? Go for it. Alien? Bring some lunch. Genetically modified Were-<animal>? Absolutely fine. Android/cyborg? Great. The more creative the better, given that there will be a uniform of sorts and an overall theme, some individuality is always a good idea.

As a side note, the green and blue combination in my trio pic is representative of the colours of Earth: mostly blue, with some green. Just for effect (unless it's popular, of course) and nothing hard and fast.

Regarding Energiox's point about future tech being brought back, I'm assuming that the suits would just be a simple mesh or weave of polymer threads and armoured scales (since that's what the Stealth costumes look like up close), and are therefore simple enough technologically speaking to pass through the time matrix/telporter array in the same way the swords do.

One final question, would this be roleplayed as much as I am hoping for, or is it a straight up OOC idea?

Addendum: What are we calling the Supergroup? Blademasters? Blades of Wrath? Steel Justice?

I'm not into RPing, so if it's an RP team don't expect me to talk IC

Posted

I don't think talking RP is obligatory - I always write a back story for my characters and it will be cool to have a group of characters that look like they are linked. If people want to role play I'm up for that too - I won't impose anything on anyone that they don't want to do.

...plus if your character is from Sweden, he can just not join in the English seaking conversation that much because of the language barrier!!!!!

Pfft, swedens know english too

Fully agreed.
Afterall this whole thing is based on characters made in concept. That doesnt necesserily mean one should also play according to that concept.
On the other hand, whoever wants to, is welcome to play on this way.

Nice work Kalistoh.

As for RP... would a formula of Local chat = RP, Team chat = non-RP be satisfactory for all? That way we get the best of both worlds, allowing those who do RP to work round those who don't, without imposing on them.

Also, can some more ideas for SG name be possible? I have an alt on Union ready and waiting to create the supergroup ahead of time, so we can decide on rank titles, emblem and so forth.

I also like the idea of allowing other time-travelling characters in who aren't necessarily blade-users, but what is the overall consensus?

Depend on how people feel about it.

I was thinking that the Green / Blue costume shown to represent Earth Colours could be the sg colours, allowing people to make their individual costumes in the colours of their choosing to represent the country / flag that they want?

Posted

Sounds good to me. Gives unity and leeway at a stroke. Now, about that name..?

How about the 'Blademasters of Future Earth' or 'Blademasters of Europa'?

Of course if we are from Earth, then that kinda rules out the Alien idea that someone earlier in the thread had.....unless in the future there are aliens living on Earth....which of course there are already if you count Khelds.....I'll stop now before I get any more confused!

Posted

Rikti and Khelds are already living in Earth. Though they both tend to get hunted.

Im not very fond of a Intergalactic supergroup concept.I assume that in the distant future, aliens live with us as well. Hell, this is a comics world we're talking about!

Anyway, although Blademaster seems a little cliche to me, I like it. In that way, I'd prefer the "Blademasters of Europe" (why Europa and not Europe?) - as it is almost certain that an almost identical name SG will pop out with upon the Issue's release on the US. That way, we'll be certain distinguishable.

I also like the name: "The Blade Of Europe" in a metaphorical way ofc, as Helm is part of the Vanguard organisation and so on..

I'd like to join, and like the time travellers from the future idea. I'd have to say, the stealth tights and fish hook with any face, human, mutant, animal or alien seems like the best way to keep a team feel that allows personalisation. Individual colours and chest detail would add to the effect. I made a "gurkha" kukri master, he looked great!
So Europa seems a bit restrictive to me.
Nepalese Colours and chest symbol (or as close as I can) with a kukri and commando dagger!

Europa was what I was calling Future Europe, when indivdual countries ceased to exist and it became a superstate....maybe in answer to the disaster that befell America....that originated in the early 21st century....hence the need to travel back in time to prevent it.

However if people are wanting to create 'Supersoldiers' from countries outside of Europe, then I would hate to be exclusionist.

If not Europe then, the world? Earth?

The Blade Dancers? If only due to the animations of certain attacks.

"Who are you working for?"

"I'm a Blade Dancer. I work for everyone."

At first time i though that was the name of the continent (it writes like that in spanish) but later i though you're english and you could be naming it by the Jupiter's moon or the mythologic Europa
I think that "Hand of Chronos" could be a good, enigmatic name

Posted

Hand of Chronos... I like it. With issue eleven they're making it possible to use the prefix 'The' as part of supergroup names, so we could be 'The Hand of Chronos'.

It must be pointed out that Chronos is also sometimes known as Aeon; Source , so we may have to take care that we not do anything to associate ourselves with the infamous one from the Isles. *smirks*

So for names we have:-

The Hand of Chronos. (my vote)

The Blademasters.

Blades of Wrath.

Blade Dancers.

Where do everyone else's votes lie?

Posted

Blades of Wrath has my vote.

Posted

Hand Of Chronos takes my vote as well.
All the others are well too obvious for an SG.

Very interesting choise of words though..
Chronos in ancient and modern greek (apart from the mythological god-titan and later named planet), is the word reffering to "time" in general. Not to mention Aeon which is originated from the greek word reffering to the "eternal"..

Very fitting! You sir, have done your research..or this is some twisted coincidence!
