I've had Provoke on my Empath, used it to draw off aggro from too eager blasters (someone goes repeatedly red - heal them, provoke through them, get some of their aggro, re-align line of sight, keep on healing). In a squishy team even a couple of seconds can mean a great deal as the damage your team-mates are dealing is usually quite impressive. I'd say go for it.

Heh i was thinking about it when i played with Knightly Defender. Sometimes when you don't have a tank in your team you can tank with your PFF.
If you have spare slots yeah it can be good. I also planned to put one in Dispersion Bubble or Invisibilitiy. It is for fun after all. Try it out, if you don't like it respec if you don't like the concept throw a new alt.
I'm not sure about a taunting bubbler. As a bubbler you are always the squishiest on the team ( everyone but you gets deflection shields and insulation shields ). PFF does give you tank like defences ( 50% resistance and 50% defence ), but on the other hand, your dispersion bubble stops working on others, reducing other peoples defences from 39 to 23.
The other thing is that you don't have sleep protection, so don't use taunt against sleep using mobs ( Freak Stunners, DE mushrooms, Psi Rikti etc ). They could end up dropping your PFF ( 5+% chance depending on enemy level and rank ) at which point you will quickly faceplant.
However I suspect it maybe fun and it is only one power so by all means try it.

It is only for a bit of fun, and of course highly situational, but I thought that it would add another string to my bow so to speak.
I dont think its all that bonkers in some cases but id be more into fly by taunting with it.

A taunting defender? Sounds totally bonkers but doable. 
I have certainly never thought of doing something like that, but then my kinetic archer has his own "provoke" with Fulcrum Shift + Rain of Arrows. Works like a charm.

It's Dispersion Bubble that doesn't protect against Sleep (or KB), and if you get mezzed then the rest of the team loses their protection too. PFF's high defence will still help avoid geting mezzed though.

Would PFF actually activate in time to protect you from the alpha?
I used to do something similar with my blaster who had PFF, just jump in first without taunt and take the first hits.
I've used hibernate to do this before on the clockwork king (psychic) when there's been noone there who could handle the alpha, but not with taunt (or provoke - was playing a blaster). Just fly over the top of him, and then hit hibernate and land next to him. Once he's nuked the tanker took agro and I skulked off. Not a concept I'd build around though really, just something that was useful at the time.

I recently created an FF/Archery defender mainly for concept/fun. Really enjoying it at the moment, once I have bubbled my team mates I can start firing my arrows arround.
I would like to have another trick up my sleve with this toon and want to know if you think I've lost my marbles. I want to get Provoke (the AoE Taunt) from the presence pool.
My reasoning is that I want to be able to take the alpha strike when I'm playing in a squishy team. Hit the taunt, fire up personal force field and then allow the aggro to spread around the team before joining the fight myself.
I also feel that it will allow me to defend squishy team mates in trouble once the fight has started by using the same tactic, taunt followed by PFF. I know that the aggro wont stay on me long but should give my team mates a few precious seconds. As a side note is it worth putting recharge reductions in PFF?
So, am I bonkers???
