A Magic team?
There was a chance that Chove's team was going to be magic, but we decided apon science in the end
Right, would anyone be interested in this, then?
i'd probably give it a go Ent but i have far too many alts already to get into another full RP sg or vg so sorry there, hope it goes well!
I might be able to squeeze another night in as am enjoying my team quite a lot... what / when you planning on?
Hell, I'm well known for generating all kinds of alts! I'd sign up as I'm getting kinda bored trying to slog Crozius up to the next milestone of 40..
I feel I have to quote a friend on this one:
*Bangs head against the wall*
Must. Not. Make. Another. Alt.
Seriously, this would be right up my street, I love magic origin characters but I just couldn't commit to another night. That said, I'll be watching this thread with interest.

well.. this is interesting, and i can see a good thing coming from this.. but i tried this with the hunters guild sg.. which i might add seems to of be slowly dieing since i so far have only me as the active member, any and all people who have joined seem to of been gone.. one person hasn't been online for about 79+ days.. so, if you want i have a sg pre set up with a magic/tech based theme, a backstory (in another post), a base with a teleporter, and a start up room, and slolwly getting towards either another work shop or medi or control room.
So that is an idea since i have just a few too many alts at the mo.. plus im saving the last two slots for when im at lvl 50, if i ever get there.
This makes me very glad most of my alts are only out on their respective group days, Stal/ Dante
As for ideas, mine have, so far, only gone to "A magic based team" and random musings. I think it'd work better heroside, though, as in heroes, you could reasonably have a group of people with only "Magic" to get them together, through virtue of M.A.G.I. and the fact heroes are more trusting in general, although it'd be interesting to see what would happen for a bunch of unrelated magic villians who just meet up. Like i said, though, my ideas are still very unfinished, and anything helps, so feel free to make suggestions.
a brotherhood team...? lol
Don't you already have one of those?
nope, lol, but nvm, t'was only a joke
Hmmm. Well, I'm inclined toward villainy myself, mostle because I like to see the bad guys win once in a while 8D But here goes for ideas
1 (hero): Ever get that "right place at the right time" feeling? Well these guys did. Out in Perez Park for their own individual reasons, yet moving together as a group for protection, they are thrown right into the tick of it when a superhero is beaten down and nearly killed by a group of Thorns. Having his emergency transporter disabled, and death looming, he gifted each one of those people a magical artifact, telling them to use them to bring justice back to the streets.
2 (villain): Thugs are common on the Rogue Isles, wether they be part of a larger group like the Hellions, or small, independant gangs that operate under Arachnos' radar. One such group of thugs got more than they bargained for when they broke into an abandoned warehouse in search of shelter and a potential looting. What they found were smuggled artefacts that bestowed on each one a mystical power. Now, empowered far more than before, they are gonna be the top gang in town...
3 (variable) Not everyone is happy with life in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. Most complaints about the standard of law keeping are just meaningless mumbles. But for some, it's something deeper. A gnawing that they can't ignorge, and certain shadowy organisations know just where to find these people. Altering local papers, and subtly influencing some of these people's lives, they are drawn into the midst of a huge ritual, designed to enhance these luckless folks and make them pawns against the heroic community. However, the ritual was not compleated, leaving these unwilling participants with power and a choice - use these powers for the good of mankind, or to bring down those ruling bodies and place their own order there...
I can probably think of more if given time
All very nice ideas, but i was mostly thinking of people with existing magical powers being grouped together by some outside organisation, happenstance, or a similar principle. If everyone's more interested in having the same origin (As in the actualy process, not origin as in "Tech, magic, etc") then that's ok. I'm leaning to two alternatives myself, for heroes and villians repectively:
(Hero): M.A.G.I. Needs new recruits, and sends them into Outbreak as a kind of feild test.
(Villian): The "Magic" cells, for some reason, are broken in a fresh jailbreak. Whilst making their individual breaks for freedom, they bump into each other, and end up in a group just to survive on Mercy.
I'd be in for this, hero or villain, both sound cool
Four people already interested? And when i first posted this, i thought noone'd care! I guess i should get a few more things down in concrete, but i'm tired, so i'll do that tomorrow!
bah! Concrete is useless! You need to put it in styrafoam! 8P
"If thou art shocked by a creation supassing its expectations, thou shalt not place it in concrete,BUT STYRAFOAM!"-the 16th commandmant of Sir Havocus Fangarius
and yeah,im in aswell now i have my spare slot of d00m
i got a magic villain planned, and ive had a few heroes of magic in mind
i'm terrible at thinking up stuff like this to be honest i like the 3 ideas posted earlier, the 3rd one probably being my favourite, the only thing i can think of is say a group of friends or something (connection before 'powers') suddenly get them all in one way, maybe they're 'possessed'? by different kinds of spirits... or something.... *shrug* don't listen to me lol
ooooh! Posession!
Be prepared for my amazingly thought out backstory:
A wizard did it.
Seriously though, I think a good one could involve either people who have studied the mystic arts for many years, and have decided to put them into practice for some cause?
I'm not good at thinking up overall backstorys.
Ok, then, I'm back, and i think the first thing that needs to be down is:
Hero or Villian?
That would simplify things a bit, if we were focusing on one alignment.
(Edited in Is an overall backstory what everyone wants, as well, then?
(Interesting side note: 5 people interested! Yay!)
I'm certainly interested.
I don't know if this is any use to you in taking ideas further, but I was thinking the other day about a team that are guided by, for want of a better term, negative spirits.
I'd started out idly wondering if a team could be based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The obvious inherrent limitation was that there could only be four. So I switched my thinking to the Seven Deadly Sins, and what they might be like. Naturally, with the sinful connotation, I was thinking villains appropriate. I somehow imagined Envy as being a corrupter with draining (theft) powers, such as Dark Blasts and Kinetics. Wrath seemed aslmost certainly a brute, perhaps fiery, like his temper. Greed seemed to be a stalker, lurking and striking for personal gain, not sharing even his hiding places...
Anyway, that was the thinking that lead me to think up the Spirits of Vice, each representing the darker side of what intelligent beings can do, from murder to treachery, from enjoying the pain of others to caring only for one's self.
These spirits are a supernatural manifestation. They are magic of the kind that Demons and Angels may be. The kind of magic of ancient forces of the world itself. But they have taken physical form.
At the beginning therefore, such characters would be drawn to each other. Would sense a kinship. Yet while recognizing the spirit within, the characters may not have any idea of their own origins. Each would be left to puzzle whether he had a former life and was possessed, or whether he was 'created' as a physical form for the force within. In other words, any character could be such a spirit...
Just some thoughts to play with or discard as you like.

I just need to remind myself here...

This is all very interesting and I love the Seven Deadly Sins idea. The only problem I foresee with such a rigid structure is that if someone drops out or can't make it, it throws the whole thing out of alignment. When I started in my current SG, the idea was to have two of each AT. Within months we had such a mish-mash where people had come and gone, it certainly didn't reflect a balance of ATs anymore.
You'll probably need a more general theme but I do love the Deadly Sins one, very groovy.

Thats what i'd be worried about with that idea, and to a lesser extent, some of the earlier ideas, like the perez one. If we have people joining after we start, then you end up with a difficult time trying to put them into the group, because they weren't around at the start, so why do they get to join the club now? Whereas (and i'm not bigging up my idea here ) if it was called together by M.A.G.I, then it'd be reasonable, as it would be a voluntary thing to join. My villian idea would need work, though...
But theres been some good ideas, guys. Anyone decided on hero or villian yet?
I realise there have been tons of "RP team every **** night, **o'clock onwards" Kind of things, but has anyone ever made a magic orientated team? Was just interested, as i've been thinking about one for ages, now, just wondering if it has been done before, and if no, was anyone interested in giving it a go?
