Weave worth taking anymore?

Hi All

Ive been thinking about Redoing Lord Spawnus's Build again (Fire/Fire tanker) and this question keeps coming up..

Should I or should I not take Weave?

Had people say to me that its not needed anymore as it gives off a bad defence rate and others says that it is needed. What are your thoughts on this?

Is it needed? or not?

It's not the best thing for fire, no def to stack on. Stone would use it as overkill (Though maybe OK pre-granite?) Tbh the best use is on ice and invuln when you have lots to stack it with. I'd say there'd probably be someting better you can take.

No way - weave is now a pants power. Not much more defence than combat jumping for a much much higher end cost? No thanks!

It's only worth it if you're very close to the DEF cap, which, as fire/fire, you won't be.

Agreed on above.

Invul and Ice are DEF based and the Weave factor works well with it for it's extras:

Weave:
[Base] RES : Immobi
[Base] DEF : To all + Psi (5%)
[3DEF] DEF : To all + Psi (7.80%)

Considering Fire/Stone(Granite)/as well as Invuln is mainly RES based Tough alone is worth it, but DEF on a RES-based Tanker goes to be a little pointless-waste of power choice, so unless you feel you REALLY need it.. I'd ignore it, totally.

If i was permanently tag teamed to a force field bubbler i would get fight pool complete with weave especially if a fire tank of non fiery melee secondary. Not likely though.

A Force Field Defender can put you past the 45% defence soft cap by themselves to all but Psionic... therefore if you were PERMENANTLY tag-teamed with one, taking weave would be overkill.

If it was a controller, you'd be at 30-35% defence so weave could be useful to bring you closer to the "cap".
Personally I'd rather just take "Tough" and another attack power though, fire tanks are made to do damage!

not to psionic

I thought the shields were def to damage type and def to position of about 23.6% each and how they combine/stack is a grey area to me. Def to all stacks to either for me. So atleast i was at 30% before dispersion bubble to which id have to be near team but i am not always.

A team of perma-eluded people strikes me as OMGness. I would of thought 2 calculations were involved and the higher of the two wins for less of the OMGness.

You're right on the 23.6 number, but if you're nearby you can surpass the cap. Numbers are here.

OK that's nearer an "if I am tag teamed with a forcefield bubbler who took maneuvers..."

That's nearer a no benefit from weave. My first post was my way of saying "generally don't take it..unless "rare likelihood" to someone who likes to squeeze all the defence out they can get.

I have taken weave on my Invul build (link below). It's probably not the best build in the world but it works for me and seems very tough.
