Force Field questions

Couple of force field questions with regards to pvp:
1) Personal Force Field
Ive heard off but Im not sure on the numbers of the defence cap, how does the PFF work with regards to the defence cap, is it under it, or not affected by it, or something else entirely?

The way this game handles tohit and defence is weird. Iirc there is a hard defence cap, but it's incredibly hard to hit (if not impossible) without a lot of outside buffs. However, every single power always has a 5% chance to hit regardless of defence so there is sort of a "soft cap" in that respect.

2) Detention Field
In pvp is this resisted by any status effect protection toggle, also can you use break frees to escape from it?

No and no. Take it, learn how and when to use it, love it.
To try to help ya here is me quoting me from the scrapper section:

I think from what i have read (but what i have read hasnt had me thinking "Right! i am 100% sure what the poster is talking about!" admittedly but i think npcs tohit are now 50% and so defense has a 45% cap because 5% is minimum amount of tohit you can leave an npc with.
I think npcs tohit no longer scales cos if it did 45% wouldnt really be a soft cap would it? (This is the only game i have ever really played so i dont know the terminologies such as soft cap that could of come from other games) but anyway mathematically thats MinMax(total tohit - total defense) which is one part of the tohit calculation, applied after this part is the accuracy part and then MinMax again.
I think that for def scaleability they made the npcs all become set at 50% tohit (pre i7 they were higher and rank and level modifiable) and made the accuracy rank and level modifiable instead.
I could be wrong, usually i find posts in general assuming people already knew alot of stuff and vague to say the least especially as my english isnt my strongpoint.
I take the tohit formula to be like this now and i aint that mathematical seeing as i left it at high school.
{[(Total Tohit - Total Def) =>5 or =<95] * (Total Accuracy)} =>5 or =<95 = Hit chance
So if i had 55% tohit and the player had 101.5 def and i had 2 acc SOs in an attack my chance of hitting with that attack look to be:
{[(55% - 101.5%) =>5 or =<95] * (166.66%)} =>5 or =<95 = Hit chance.
5% * 166.66% =>5 or =<95 = Hit chance
5% * 166.66% =>5 or =<95 = 8.3%

I dunno if i'll get corrected and itll be nice if i did cos then in further posts i can help ppl with greater accuracy but from it all you only need 45% def to reach the soft def cap which is the only def cap to think of for pve.

I don't know about the cap for defence but triple SO DEF Buff puts you squarely in the safe zone. My Force Field Defender can walk virtually unharmed through serious plusses, stand around typing in PvP zones full of build up using Stalkers when using it slotted like that. Which is of course the point of the power. You can see a difference between slottings, not huge but you'll definatly take more and those 3 ACC Stalkers will definatly be claiming your scalp more often.
Detention Field is one of those great/useless powers, the only way to resist is if the user misses, otherwise it's time to put your feet up and see how the battle goes without you. Course for every time you swing a battle by det fielding the MM so he can't save his minions and you can take him out when it drops you'll have the battle where your team gets slaughtered punching the fielded brute and doing nothing while his mates chin you all...

isnt 50% the acc of an even level minion? I thought npc acc still scales up with lvl and rank. I think in pvp the base acc of every normal acc power (75% in PvE) becomes 50%. This is before any acc enhancements though. A stalker running a 3-acc slotted AS and using BU with it will get a massive tohit buff, and i'm not sure if that obeys any "caps" or not. You can run an SR scrapper or ice tank at near to this "soft cap" of 45% and still get ASed everytime. The base +def value of PFF is massively higher of course but i think for PvP you might wanna slot it anyway to counteract these massive tohit buffs, not to mention all the -def debuffs flying around.

[/ QUOTE ]Not quite, all players just get +25% def.

How would defence enhancements affect this in pvp with regards to the defence cap, I read a post on the US forums that recommends 3 SO defence enhancements to reduce risk of being hit to extremely marginal.
