Advice on secondary for AR/
I have an AR/Traps Aery its fun and isn't that bad in PVP
I use everything and when you get to mines and poison trap things start getting very intresting.
Yep Time Bomb sucks but the other powers are very good.
/kin works to boost dmg/recharge time and uber dmg buff in fulcrum shift
/rad is good for the acc/def/dmg debuff
/Thermal has -def/-res/-dmg/-end debuffs
/cold has -end/-regen/-dmg/-res-recharge/-spd
/dark has -acc and afew holds
/sonic has afew debuffs -def/-res and shields

Traps is decent, and only secondary with immob, so can use ignite well. Dark would be very nice, but it's kinda spammy so wouldn't take it with weapon set, same goes for most, apart from rad and maybe cold.
Hmm, back to the drawing board for some /traps builds then.
Which powers would you skip in the set ?
From looking at it, I'd say Caltrops, Triage, Seeker and Time Bomb can be left out.
From AR, I only really see Beanbag that should be left out, this is gonna be quite tight..

Well my build is purly PVP so might not work so well for your PVE Duo (and i'm reluctant to post my PVP build here )
Traps is a very defensive set its all about putting things between you and the bad guys but then it also depends what your partner is playing.
if your partner is say a brute or MM that can take agro i'd go for the cones and AoE's for max dmg in the AR set.
For a squishy team you'd want single target dmg and maybe afew cones.
Beanbag is a very good stun btw.
Traps i'd say the keepers are.
Caltrops
FFG
Poison Traps
Mines
The rest are skipable.

Oh BTW just a small note about poison trap .. the hold time on it is really small and adding hold enhancers to it dosn't really help the hold time so don't expect it to be a long hold.
Its mainly good for the -regen -recharge.
Apparantly it got borked when the devs removed the choke/vomit part from it that was the actual hold.

Ah well if its another corr you'll defo want caltrops as that will be the only thing between you and the baddies.
I'd probably swap stim for aid other in my build then.

Both are little dmg and agro magnets ..burst and slug will recharge alot faster and do more dmg..besides when you get flamethrower+ Full Auto its all the AoE you'll need.
Some ppl might argue the fact but its just my personal opinion.
Beanbag can be a life saver as it can mean a chance to get off a snipe or not and is very good for stunning them damn nulls before they beanbag you !.
If you don't want medicine i'd take the leadership pool - assault/tactics.
Extra dmg and also a source of +per for them nightwidows who just love to use smokegren.

Choices, choices...
Trying to figure out a build that fits everything I want in it (yes, including beanbag ^^) but it's proving harder than to buy a PS3 at launch
Also, regarding the PPP, I know the AE hold/immob would prove useful for ignite, but I want GW for two reasons : haven't taken her yet, and wanna see soul drain + full auto in action. Besides, if my wife sticks with /rad, all mobs should be at the slow cap Not as good as a mass immob, but not too bad either.
Well, still working a build, trying to take yours as a starting point. Will post something in a bit.
Soul Drains not that good .. Its a PBAoE meaning you have to be in the mob to get anything back.
Secondly the returns are god awful.
Base to hit buff 2.5% per npc
base dmg buff 2.5% per npc hit (unehanceable)
Since AoE's only hit a max of 15 npc's your looking at a 30% ish dmg buff, if your lucky (or unlucky) enough to jump in a mob of 15 npc's

I'd personaly take fly so it will get you out of melee range so you can snipe.

Aye, matter of taste, ever since I first took SJ, every other travel power seems slow as hell
Might take fly again tho, who knows
Also, regarding the leadership pool : I used to have it on Aerys, only to have to recast it every 2 freakshows because of their stun, so not too thrilled about it
And taking Acro for the KB/hold prot, I got scarred for the rest of my life by playing Aerys for about 40 levels without it Don't think I could bear skipping it after playing brutes and stalkers who just don't even know what KB or hold is. Too bad it doesn't have Stun prot.
Otherwise, what do you think of the build ?
FFG has hold protection except V sleep so theres no need to have acro which is alot lower mez protection than the FFG btw.
And it does protect V stun but then again with AR/Traps you shouldn't be in melee range anyway

It doesn't have KB prot tho
But like I said, I might take fly instead of SJ and if I do I obviously won't take Acro, which would let me take one more power. Would have to find a way to three a couple slots for Hover though, since at base speed it's unbearable.
Any idea what would get the highest hover speed : 3 slotted Swiftness or 3 slotted fly ? My Hero builder doesn't seem to take into account that swiftness now increases fly speed.
And btw, thanks a lot for your help and input, finding out builds for power sets you've never played is always a pain

Two builds, one with Fly, one with SJ. The one with fly has some slots invested in swiftness/hover/fly so as to not make it so painfully slow.

[/ QUOTE ]It's merely in there using L50 blaster's modifiers, just like all other pool powers. Corruptor numbers should be a bit lower but not by that much.
I have an Ar/Dark Corrupter and he is brilliant.
I can take on large-ish numbers of foes the following way:
I find a convenient corner near some enemies, use darkest night on the furthest one (using shadowfall to stealth up to them if needs be). Then I run back around the original corner out of sight and drop tar patch so the centre of the patch is at the corner. As the enemy are herded by the aggro generated by darkest night to the corner, they hit the patch before they can see me and bunch up into a nice neat group. I wait till I see the feet of the lead runner around the corner, pop out and nail them with fearsome stare. They are now feared (so plenty of time to position myself for cone attacks), and have their accuracy debuffed by both darkest night and fearsome stare as well as debuffed resistance. I then open up with full auto. They only get one shot each back at me for each discreet attack and twilight grasp can cover any damage from that. Follow up with flamethrower and buckshot (so half of the enemy are on their backs when the ticks from flamethrower finish them off). Result, one dead group of enemies. This works quite well solo with +2s in groups of 4-8, or more if they are lower level.
Against single enemies petrifying gaze slotted 2 Acc, a hold and 2 recharge SOs pretty much keeps an +2 lieutenant perma-held while I whittle their health down with burst, slug and snipe.
However, to be honest until I got acrobatics dealing with large groups which had knockdown was a pain in the bum .
I will admit though that bosses can be a problem, and some longbow ones a nightmare but even they can be taken down eventually . Hopefully now I have dark servant I can use him to absorb boss alpha strikes.

Alrighty, after playing my dom alt for 8 levels I deleted it before it could drive me insane with the 65 minutes it took to kill a level 1 crate.
So, back to the drawing board, and decided, in a fit of post-dom madness, to roll an AR ruptor.
Can't decide on a secondary powerset tho.
Rad : already have it on my ice/rad, love it to bits, not much to discover here sadly
Cold : tried it on an NRG/Cold ruptor, didn't really do the trick for me
Dark : never played it myself, but thinking that fearsome stare wouldn't work too well with the cones attacks from AR
Thermal : no, just no.
Sonic : can't bear the animations and sounds, so prolly will never try that one. Unless it really owns, but I don't think so.
Traps : was thinking of trying that one, but about half the powers in the set seem really meh and just a plain waste of time in teams. Also the level 38 power sucks big time. I liked the concept of AR / Traps tho.
Kin : I'd really really really like to enjoy playing this set, but sadly from the couple tries I've given it, I don't =/ Would be the obvious choice otherwise. I might give it another try, dunno.
I plan to duo 99% of the time, or team up, pretty much no solo at all, and no pvp.
Sooo, what do you guys think works best with AR ? I don't care much with FoTM builds, just want something fun and that actually works, hate being gimped
And to add to that, AR seems quite a tight set, with not many skippable powers imo, which really doesn't help
