Trip Mines, Ice Storm or Bitter Freeze Ray

When Issue 8 hits, I'm planning on fine-tuning my main for a build that is useful for both PvP and PvE. For the most part this means I'm reslotting stuff in a more efficient way and moving powers up and down the levels to get a bit more optimal builds for Warburg and Bloody Bay.

But, I'm having a dilemma on which of the following three powers to pick:

- Trip Mines, highly situational power, as there are few teams in PvE at lv 50ish that need to stop in missions for so long that I have the opportunity to set them up. In PvP these are a bit more useful, but I'm not taking teleport, so Teledroning is out of the question.

- Bitter Freeze Ray, it's a slowly activating power, and the damage isn't that good. But it is an additional hold, and stacking 3 hold powers with vanguard and geas running in PvP is more fun than stacking 2 hold powers.

- Ice Storm, only use it to slow down enemies before Blizzarding, rarely to deal minor damage to a big group of lower levels. But it does the slowing quite well and is probably the power out of these three I've used most.

So, out of those three choises, which one would you take and why? I've had all these powers on the character at one point or another, and for me they're pretty much on the same line. So, convince me

(Other possible powers I could pick are: Taser, Auto Turret, Time Bomb, Group Fly, Hover, Superspeed, Flurry, Health, Maneuvers, Vengeance or Fire Shield, but I'm not keen on taking any of these)

Holding/Sleeping someone and placing a Trip Mine next to them =

Trip Mine is mostly a solo power or something you'd use for base defense during a raid. If you neither solo nor participate in base raids then it's not that useful for you.

BFR is plagued by a slow activation, much like Trip Mine. Do you need the third Hold and can you survive the activation time? In my opinion you should only take BFR if you answer yes to both those.

Ice Storm (Snow Storm is in Cold Mastery) does seem like the best overall power of the three for you.

Of course, Super Speed is much better than any of the three due to the +Stealth stacking with Cloaking Device for Invisibility level Stealth (PvE only) that still permits attacks.

I like Trip Mine but appreciate the comments about its real usefulness. I get some mileage out of it, but mostly when soloing (it's great for ambushing bad guys on corners). It's a lovely concept but not often that useful, and oddly all it would need to fix it is more reliable detection of when it should be triggered.

BFR I'm about to respec out, I think it's of marginal benefit to most general purpose builds.

Ice Storm is a widely underrated power IMO, and does useful damage and a nice slow/panic effect. Frost Breath/Ice Storm/Blizzard is a nice combo, since you can't get Shiver or Snow Storm. I'd take it, and possibly toss a couple of slows in it.

Superior invisability, group invisability, combat invisbility (not sure about this one) grant invisibilty.

These all allow it

But how many of them are available to an Ice/Dev/Fire Blaster, hmm?

tbh, if u want pve and pvp, trip mines (IF you duo that with caltrops and tp foe OR if you wanna just ahve a minefield to stop people getting in AS range)

although saying that the hold would be nice, except most people now ahve acro and unless your me, u need to stack it (as on my chars one hit = held with acro on) :P

personal preferance i guess, trip mines for me tho, r0xx
