Well, I'm leveling up my Inv/SS, and I'm deciding on a build.I have my first Idea, which is basically a good tank, not a pure meatshield though. Able to deal quite a bit of damage too (I hope) Downside is, no Unstoppable or Taunt, but I do get fighting+medicine for survivability.

The point is, which of these combos will help the most? Is taunt really needed? And how good is unstoppable? Is it better than a great always available combo of fighting+medicine? Help plz! :P

You'll want taunt at 10 since you dont get aura 'till 18. Personally I'd say taunt, unstop and aid self.

What's unstop like though? As in, recharge, duration etc? I already know about the uber resists.

It's good enough to be pretty much must-have.

Just did the maths, and it's got a 5 and a half minite downtime, 3 mins uptime. Not too bad, it seems.

taunt at 49?!?!??!

Well, the thing I'm thinking is that it'd be pointless taking it in the lvl 10 slot, merely because I'll be a little too squishy until I'm armoured up and SOs, at which point I can taunt via gauntlet and inv. I could just take out fighting, put taunt at 30 and then something else at 35, maybe combat jumping.

Welcome to the world of the inv tank. I have a lvl 50 inv/ice tank and I know its the one I have played around with, in regards to build, the most. Go with a build you enjoy playing, but I agree to try and move taunt down. It will help make the teams you tank in work better so you will all enjoy the experience more. Don't be afraid to ask for bubbles, fortified, etc from those in the team that have them. Yes it's a pain having to ask (but in part they made tanks squishier to give them more of a role, so try and get them to fulfill that role!).

I'm not going to try and offer a "perfect" build but some ideas. Firstly, unstoppable only needs 1 damage resist as long as you run unyielding at same time. The 2nd damage resist could perhaps go in tough which is end heavy.

In aid other, personally I would take out the Intrdx, as one will not make much difference & you will struggle to get it of in combat. In aid self stick to 3 intrdx (possibly a error it getting there as you have stuck to the rule of 3 of same type of enhancements max. in a power elsewhere), a recharge can be used instead of 4th intrdx.

Also I would personally pick char as first epic if taking that pool, its great for holding sappers.

Hope this gives a few ideas.

It's an error, the last 2 slots in aid self were recharges.

Still debating fighting and medicine atm, and having just one of them is the only way to get taunt in. This build, I could swap taunt with tough, depending on what I need more.

The only way I found to fit everything I wanted on my Inv/Fire was to remove epics entirely.

Taunt's vastly useful from 10-22, despite what many people claim about tanks being too squishy before SO's - at that point in the game, you're still a hell of a lot tougher than most others, you just need to be very selective about using it. Taking taunt early is a proving ground, but worth its weight in gold when it comes to learning the trade early.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't consider tanking without Resist Physical Damage - Taking it with the build you have will half incoming s/l damage when Unstoppable is down.

Aid self and Hasten both immensely improve survivability.

Hand Clap at 49 is a bit odd, at that point your days are about over, and you won't be too worried about the damage mit. it offers if you've spent 49 levels without it.

If you drop epic pool (you've enough damage output and a decent enough attack chain without it) you could comfortably fit Aid Self and RPD.

Whatever you decide to do, don't drop fighting pool. Weave is so incredibly valuable, a fact which is denied by its seemingly small amount of def. And you can't hit s/l cap without Tough!

DON'T eat muffins while I'm developing you.

I agree entirely. Note that a /SS tank needs taunt more than a /Fire tank too.

I know it halves your S/L but once you have Tough and Weave you are hovering in the 78% S/L resist and around 23% defence. So you are only taking about 12% of damage from S/L damage anyway. With that much defence/resistance the only S/L opponents that are any danger are the giant monsters in PI and the Hive. With defender buffs/debuffs you are safe against them too. I never had any problems with the hard hitting S/L AVs.
Golden Golem had capped S/L resists in I4. However in I5 I didn't slot RPD, so had about 85 and in I6/I7 I had about 78%.

Yes, the 49 power is a throwaway one. To some extent so is the 47 one. Try and get your build complete by level 41.

But only in the forties when you are almost done.

Ignoring hitting the cap, [Boxing,] Weave and Tough give better survivability than REl, REn and RPD. Weave is the one that makes the most difference here. RPD IMO is optional.

travel Power wise I'd be tempted to change to CJ and SJ for the added def bonus of CJ. I agree with everyone else you need to take taunt in the early teens. I did same as Wilfred and dropped Epics in order to fit in all of the Primary, although that was partly concept involved as none of the Epic suited my toon.

I went for flight mainly because I like it, and air sup is VERY handy, especially for a nice ST juggle with Haymaker
