Is Bitter Freeze Ray worth getting for the zomg 4 holds factor, or is it utter utter [censored]?

Should I get Lightning Field?

Should I get Blizzard and/or Ice Storm and/or Frost Breath?

Should I get Lightning Clap?

Should I get Power Sink?

[/ QUOTE ]Way too long animation, skip it.

[/ QUOTE ]Blizzard and ice storm should be great for stalkers, and immobilized foes, but really depends on how many power picks you have. Wouldn't take breath.

[/ QUOTE ]A stun can be useful to drop acro, but you already have multiple holds to do that, and the animation is long.

[/ QUOTE ]Propably, it's still nice +END, even if you're not relying on END drain.

i ran with freeze ray and bitter freeze ray on my ice corr on the RV event very sucessfully, yeah the ani is a little long but not that bad and it a perfect antithis to acrobatics. Fire nice fast freeze ray at a target ouot of melee range, follow up with BFR (which has a longer range) Then go and smack them, its no where near as bad as people make out.

frost breath is pve orientated really

As for lightning clap, if you have room fit it in, disorients make squishies chew bfs like anything.

Max mentions that you have enough holds to break acro but you dont if you follow his advice and ignore bitter freeze ray (shocking grasp is melee and if you have someone who needs acro in melee range you are going to turn them into a greasy smear not stack holds)

Should you get power sink? DEFINATELY, it means you ahev no down time and is a awesome weapon against sturdier targets

[/ QUOTE ]Acro takes two holds to break, right? And with the elec epic, you will already have 2 ranged holds, AND one melee hold.

Any comments on Lightning Field?

You are probably best making the builds on test server, and seeing what works best for you. These threads are ok, but give mixed opinion, try them yourself dude

Cookie cut PvP builds may not be the best for you.

then you are stuck at high end pvp and I personally see no point to a blaster having a melee hold in pvp as it increases the factor of something going horribly wrong should it fail to have the desired effect (as a hold that is, as 100% nrg damage shocking grasp can be very useful) but /elec has many other things you will want to use in melee. 2 ranged holds in lvl 30 pvp is extreamly advantageous should that be an area you wish to indulge in. I personally factor all my builds for 30/38/50

Point for point shocking bolt beats BFR hands down in cost, ani, recharge and duration but BFR is still not as bad as its made out.

I think thats ok only if you plan on going against stalkers, and even then it is debatable.

Out of powers listed, power sink is a definitive yes though.

The AoE defence of stalkers is too high for it to be that effective

It's a good job that Lightning Field (and all other PbAoE affects) count as Melee rather than AoE then, isn't it? The only "true" AoEs are things like Fireball (if you stand next to the target, but are not the target yourself) and "placed" AoEs like Volcanic Gasses.

Im somewhat suspect over the coding of pbaoes and indeed melee cones (which I beleive should count as melee) in the game as even with a double parry buff dm stalkers nearly always tag my SR with shadow maul.

That said as a stalker deterant its not much cop, it may stop a stalker 10% of the time, if this is your intention I wouldnt bother with it, far better powers in both sets to take

I agree, but I wanted to be optimistic and he asked for an opinion Plus I saw Plight stop a regen stalker in a duel effectively with it. (regen stalkers are propably the only ones it does work against though)

As I said, it's all about seeing

and knowing to move/BF/use PS. Hitting would be silly . In PvE this power will wipe out minions with your other AoEs so is well worth it imo

Good times...

Ice/Elec is a very good combo, I'd probably rate Ice/Energy slightly higher for the self buffs, but Ice/Elec can be extremely competent. Though I'd never get lightning field myself.

meh if you want stalker protection get ice storm it rocks for that.

Actually, I like Lightning Clap partly because it has a nice short activation suitable for a panic button (approx. 1.2 sec.). Are you confusing it with the Storm Defender Thunder clap, which has a much longer activation? (approc. 2.4 sec.)

Yes - it has shorter activation time and shorter recharge than Thunder Clap, but a smaller AoE. It's a much better power IMO.
