Silent Tempest pictures

Two pictures from my supergroup

Coile and Sword of Truth (related to his story of them going to mountains): Into My Arms

My character Subaiku (who is not a vampire) Sister of Night

With Subaiku's picture, I was doing the channel-thing, which is getting faster in someways. I'm still learning new things about it. On Coile and Sword picture I did it with layers, it is based on pencil sketch I made instead of inked like Subaiku.

Hellowie!

They are gorgeous. Really nice. As I said in varying other Creative Topics, if you ever need to practice by doing some request, it would be my pleasure to provide

The Rot Hood.

Out of a hundred (or two or three) drawings, scetches, magazine covers, comic panels, short story illustrations or various works relating to SWG, WoW or CoH that you have done over the years I just might like this one best.

This is your most advanced piece of art. I was serious when I suggested that you should make pics of the various stages of the process and make a "making of" post how you created this.

Compared to the pencil drawing what makes this picture stand out is the use of old style photograph background and the small details done to the lines at the last stage. The whole look and feel is a thirties photograph combined with a cover art of a pulp mag or another. It creates a nice contrast especially since it's a picture to a story that happens on 2006. Sort of suggests there is an ageless attribute to stories.

The story in question is currently in my sig. "Touch the Sky"

Having seen the Coile & Sword drawing before you added the background, it went from a good picture to a very good quality picture.

The scenery adds a lot to pictures. I hope you'll add backgrounds from time to time to your favorite pics (either old ones or coming).

And I prefer Sister of Night over Pyranha Flamehair.
Subaiku expression, her eyes, are very evocative to me.

As far as I can tell the pictures don't start from a screenshot, they have their roots in something best described as "characteristic". If you observe the Sword and Coile picture there their relationship is depicted. Coile is looking at Sword, Sword is looking away. Even at his arms there is a sense of distance between them. Back in Paragon City Coile lived in Sword's apartment. She comforted him by holding hand or even hugging when needed but it never went into the realm of romance. The picture is not just illustration to the story, it's also a tale in itself. One picture, a thousand words, all that.

What's RC's story? Is he a communist? How does he see his motherland? Where are his loyalties? What are his hardships? How does he feel about the harsh things done in communism's name? Is he an idealist? Realist? Does he believe in an utopia? What does he dream about (except Hana Li, that is)? WHY is he the greeting committee at GG? What are his motives? What does he want to be? One picture wouldn't maybe touch all those subjects but if it's going to be just a scetch based on a screenshot it would just be - a redrawn screenshot.

Very nicely put, Coile.

Yes, I need to have feel for a character before I draw them. (Since I am not getting paid If you pay me, I'll draw anything you want ) It might not be very apparent "tale" like in Sword/Coile picture, but even in pose like Subaiku there is certain feel I had and wanted to draw.

For RC, it might mean RPing some more with me ^^ Although I do have some ideas already.

Best drawing by Pyr ever, and I've seen several over the years.

I really like how it looks like an old picture, somehow seems to fit the characters as well.

After the big Requiem RP-plotline was finished, I got the idea of making poster for it, if it was a movie. So I did. Starring members of Silent Tempest, featuring Doctor Temporis (Who was the awesome creator of the storyline and GM) and Requiem.

Requiem War: To Search A Thousand Worlds

It is loosely based on couple of Attack of the Clones posters, and my first try at making movie-postery-pic. Feedback very welcome!

Ever so slightly I still prefer the awesome Sword & Coile pic with ye olde times style but this poster is still one impressive piece of work. I like Requiem's eyes especially. You've managed to capture the movie poster style very believably.

It also contains inter-character symbolism open to those who know the situations. Good usage of personal information.

Sliding the colours to purple all across the board worked wonders. The original picture was a good one too but now the clashes due to tones are gone. Lots of work, but well worth it!

Classified. Cannot confirm. Does not know himself. Classified.

He's mysterious. Until he hit level 30, He rarely showed his face. That's RC's appeal. Having a Russian accent and being a walking mystery.

Well, Kitten, you know my opinion of the pics you drew of Sword and Coile and Subaiku, they're excellent.

And as to the movie poster, you have shown what a good eye you have for composition. It's at least a professional quality piece of work.

I'd give it 52 out of 10

I wish you'd stop posting it in so many places. I can only make so many comments about how good it is before your head swells and axplodes. I love it, it's great, etc.

See other places for more comments.

A real nice pieace of work.
Different media than drawing, different tools.

I believe Subaiku should appear on the poster (instead of Star Crusader for example).

Yup. Knowing the characters allows a second reading of the poster.

Subaiku does appear on the poster. She is just portrayed the way she operates on - in shadows. To the right of Doc T there are two eyes staring from the dark...

Bleh. That's not her! Even in the shadows you can see her big bum!

Of course there has been artistic lisence involved and the butt has been shrunk for the picture. Otherwise we would need a second poster aside this one just for her hiney. Just imagine all the advertizing money...

I'd watch a movie about Suby's big [censored].
