Fire/sonic or Fire/ff for pvp:o

not really. A lot less people have repel resistance, compared to people who have mez protection. Anybody can get combat jumping and acrobatics to stop them from being immobbed and knocked down. Only 3-4 powersets in the entire game give resistance to repel.

Has anyone tried Sonic Repulsion? I haven't bothered for PvE but am wondering whether it could work in PvP (even though it's ally-based).

I dont think you and I are going to agree on this at all... sorry

As far as I can see, the relative lowering of /sonic from defender --> troller is exactly the same as /forcefield.

If you go by that reasoning, then there would be no difference between Sonic or FF. FF has Force Bubble though, which is just so much better than the lv 38 Sonic Power, it's not even funny. Force Bubble is just very very good in PVP, which gives Forcefield a big advantage. For example, I don't even have the single target buffs on my /FF controller. I would never ever roll a /Sonic troller and not get those buffs. That's how good Force Bubble is.

That's not to say that Sonic isn't good though. It's a different type of good. I wouldn't mind seeing Sonic buffed Fire Imps with the debuff toggle on them. That should be pretty decent damage. You'll be a lot more open to attack though. You have no self heal and no other way to protect yourself.

Everything what I wanna'd to say has been said by mesmer here..I considered taking forcefield cause of forcebubble (the power we love and hate so much:P)..

tho I still made sonic..the reason why....well..its one of the first ever so its not like you fight a team and there is a copy of you already..and what mesmer said..if I buffs my pets with -res they run around like anchors while I can focus on the main target..

I also make this toon togheter with a tank and a scrapper so they love the shields I give them:P...anyone got the values of those tho?..

anyway thank you all for the reactions^^...I know that it may not be the best power set for pvp but its worth to check out..

I made a Fire/Sonic a few weeks ago pretty much just so I could use Disruption Field on the Imps, when I get them. It may not be uber, but it should be fun.

Sure, if you like having no end. It has a tohit-check in it as well (at least, I was seeing lots of "Miss!" ticks when I was using it on people) which you can't slot for, so it's not really that great. The range is tiny as well, so you can't really drop it on someone and then move away from them as it'll switch right off again.

Sonic repulsion is like Repulsion Field from the ForceField Pool. The name is misleading as it doesn't do repel. It does knockdown. It was handy in Siren's as a way to interrupt AS, but in I7 that won't work anymore, as only damage attacks will interrupt it.

For controllers it's about 25% +res with 3 SOs for Sonic Barrier/Haven and about 15% for Sonic Dispersion.

Force bubble is great, but pff is the uber power. Both (and prolly tha phase bubble) make ff better in PvP imo

Sonic also has a phase power (Sonic Cage) which is available earlier.
