Grant Invisibilty...

I know that our Pets are meant to be "the Villains Tank" and all, but after reading a thread in the Tanker Area talking about how once detected, it's just a +Def. So would this be a nice little Defense buff and nice way to get into position or take away from your "Tanking" ability?

(only asking cos planning a Thugs/TA, so havent got the buffs of FF etc, but cud stack Flash Arrow/Poison Gas Arrow/Acid Arrow to make my Thugs pretty tough to take down.)

It would probably be useful with thugs to manouver the brute pet into position. As I recall the def is pretty small but take it for that if you want. The best use of it is in PvP against enemies without +per powers which is a rarity.

So take it if you want to play about with it and see if you can get a use or two that fits your style.

I have it on my necro/dark and it isnt bad. My zombies seem to last a bit longer in pve. In pvp I tend not to use it on pets so I can keep that "hard to target the MM in all those pets" buff Although I do sometimes buff one grave knight with it. Its good for buffing team-mates in pvp, especially stalkers of course.

I've been considering getting Grant Invis to bolster my bots. I too was wondering what the base Defence value was, and whether it was worth adding extra slots to enhance it.

I know that by and large and on an individual basis most defence buffs are utterly pitiful and hardly worth the effort. Still, I also understand that if you can stack enough small bonuses together it can eventually get to be reasonably worthwhile. I already have my Protector bots bubbles, my FF generator from Traps and Manoevers from Leadership all adding their little bit to my guys defence (I'm assuming they all stack with each other - anyone know different?) I don't really have any other powers I really want to take now, so I thought that something that added a bit more to defence, even a small amount, might not be a bad idea. Thoughts?

Oh, whilst we're discussing the concealement pool - can anyone tell me if I can still command my bots whilst I'm Invisible? What about Phase Shifted? If my bots attack, is my invisibility voided in the same way that Stealth is when you attack or get too close to the enemy? I.E. would I become visible, but still with a small defence buff, or would I remain invisible, and unable to be targeted by direct (non-AoE) attacks?

Not sure if you can command them but Supremacy stops working if you are invised or phased. Stealth allows suppremacy to work though.

Hmm... It just occured to me that my Ninjas essentially work by Stalker rules. The Jounin even placate (much to my annoyance when I'm the one getting the aggro) and then crit, and there's even a power to make any of them use a smoke flash to crit. Wonder if giving them invisibility would allow all of them to open the fight with a crit.

The Jounin actually have hide they just dont use it. As for the others it might be possible.

Aha, I have Stealth, so am aware that it doesn't interfere with Supremacy - however it never occurred to me that Invis would suppress it, so thanks for that piece of info.

As an aside but on a similar theme, I noticed just the other day that I can still command my bots when mezzed! Unfortunately I didn't notice if Supremacy dropped whilst I was mezzed, but my toon was most definitely fast asleep yet I was still able to issue orders, which my bots responded to exactly as normal. Most odd...

According to Hero Builder, the base value of Grant Invis is +3.5% DEF, not sure how accurate it is though because with 3 SOs it says +5.46% DEF.

That sound about right?

I use grant invis. with my mastermind, and though the defence bonus is small, I have noticed my pets last a lot longer in battles. Perhaps because they're still partially invisible when attacking, so nearby mobs/heroes might not see them. And that's on top of the defence bonus.

Oh, and when Issue 7 comes along it will only get better, especially in PvP. Make all your pets invisible, switch to bodyguard mode, and have fun.

Edit: And at the moment you can command your henchmen when invisible or phased. However that will change when Issue 7 is released.
