DM/SR build

right, new toon time.. next victim: the DM/SR scrapper. I always had one of these in my mind basically cause of the synergy between the -acc from DM combined with the +def from SR. Prob is, I know that this build will prolly be sippin end till the bar's empty. Hence before I lvl him too much, I'd like some comment on the build.

Please note, this build is mainly geared for PvP, yet didnt want to totally gimp him for PvE. Therefore i didnt take a travel power but went along the road of swift+sprint+quickness and hurlde+combat jump for fast unsurpressed movement.

comments WILL be appreciated, especially if people got experience with my choice of movement.

Btw, some slots were chosen pretty late cause I kinda overlooked em. Will get em in the right order as I play him though, so dont look too much at what lvl i got the slots

First off, while I love both sets (As my signature will probably tell you ) DM/Regen has better synergy than DM/SR.

This is because, under the I7 system especialy, alot of the -Tohit of DM is wasted because an SR only needs 10-15% more defence to have as much as is worthwhile, whereas with regen, all the tohit debuff is appreciated.

HOWEVER, if you want to try an SR in particular, by all means go with DM, its a good set!

EDIT: And about the movement: You'll find that unless you slot it heavily, you'll be traveling between missions very slowly. You'd be better off not taking hurdle, taking SJ and getting health earlier, its actually quite good damage mitigation with SR.

well I had my share of regens, so couldnt bear with yet another regen , especially cause imo SR would do a bit better in pvp. The movement is also geared for PvP cause of it being unsurpressed.

I personally feel the end mods are wasted in Dark Consumption, ToF could do with a couple of rechages in it.

I took Dm as my epic, but if I was to take BM I'd pick CP before FA so I could run it, SR has END issues. Also Evasion is slightly heavier than the other toggles so a second end red in there wouldn't go a miss either.

I love the travel you've got in there by the way, nice idea, I've just got the run speeds and use fly for my vertical movement

Drop siphon life, it useless, I'd take super speed instead

Try and fit medicine into your build for PvP.

No point slotting 3 heals in health, or even taking it.

You could even fit in laser beam eyes into your build and have it nicely slotted.

Actually, if anything, I'd take Siphon Life a lot sooner. Having no healing whatsoever is going to suck a whole lot. _Especially_ before SOs, when your defenses aren't even that effective. Personally I'd postpone whatever else can be postponed, Agile, TOF, whatever but get SL ASAP.

Also, hmm... it looks like that build will severely lack an attack chain until level 32 or so. I can tell you first hand that even Shadow Punch + Smite + Shadow Maul will leave large holes in your attack chain even _with_ Quickness. Going for 20 levels with just Smite and Shadow Maul? Oooer. Now that's going to royally suck.

So personally I'd at least temporarily get Shadow Punch too. It can be respecced out later, although even there I'd drop some recharge reducers in the other powers first.

But grinding for 32 levels with just 2 attacks is just scary. Even most Tankers don't find that fun. For a main damage dealer it'll be a very non-fun grind.

just gave it a whirl in the RV event, and found that the travel isnt slow at all, i can keep up with superspeeders with just sprint running (and of course swift/quickness)

bout the attack chain, yeah i got shadow punch now, this will be the eventual build after a few respecs, shouldve added that

What i did find though is that i prolly need health a bit sooner, however havent found a power to swap for it (btw, scrapper is currently lvl 7). Got the plan to drop the auto powers of SR and respec em in later. This a good idea? Cause the defense they offer seems minimal.

Bout the recharges, I found that with hasten+quickness I had no prob keepin up an attack chain. Also end didnt seem a big prob with dark consumption running. I'll keep those endmods bein a waste in mind though, thanks for the heads up

Anyway, thanks again for the comments, keep em comin, theyre greatly appreciated.

Oh and yeah, what Power Nova said about Siphon life, I picked it at my 49 and I wish I hadn't. Might respec it out for hurdle as its the only thing I dont like about my build at the moment

It's a very nice powerset combination, should make for fun!

Personally I took Siphon Life much earlier (lvl 10 or 12, I think - I posted a build somewhere on here recently but can't remember the link...). I found it enormously useful and it's kept me alive more times than I can count. It heals for 20% of Max HP when slotted up, as well as filling out your attack chain early on which is pretty significant for a DM.

Edge is right that you only need an extra 10-15% to hit your maximal defences, but since DM attacks contribute quite nicely to that I'd still say the synergy is very good.

I'd disagree with Cynic about the EndMods in Dark Consumption, too. Having them slotted there means you'll get a really significant chunk of End by hitting only one enemy, and fill yourself up by hitting two - and you'll often need End most near the end of a fight when there aren't many enemies around.

Your travel plans sould work out well, I think - I found Super Speed impossible to resist because its Stealth component is so useful in PvE, though.

I did the samwe kind of thing with the movement power...or lack of one on the test server in RV recently & it rocked. I did swift 3xrun hurdle 3xjump combat leaping 3xjump and sprint with a couple of runs in it and a end red. My findings were that I just zoomed along and there is no reason why you would need a movement power at all <obviously that was a rolled L40 toon so working up to it might be a grind>.
As for taking/not taking siphon life. . it does damage & heals you a bit....what can be bad about that??
Sure take aid self...just hope you get the time to use it

got siphon life now and gettin health at 16, and its cool for survivability in the lower lvls, however I'm still in doubt what powers to lose to have a nice sirens' build as well as a nice RV build

Hello, i come from the french forum and i want to build a DM/SR too.

Does fitness pool an obligation ?

I don't think you'll be an effective Scrapper without Stamina (Regens can do fine). Dark Consuption isn't enough IMO.

on mine :

shadow punch + smite + shadow maul (your main 3 attacks + chain) 3acc/3dmg

took all defence excl. the 2 aoe ones + 3def in all, the 2 toggles 2 endrdx

get stam, 3slot, health dont slot

practised brawler 3recharge + quickness = perma + overlap to give u 2 :P

soul drain + dark consump i gave 3acc/3recharge, as stated dark consump sitn worth slotting with endmods + soul drains base +acc/+dmg is nice anywho

get med pool and 6 slot self heal 3heal/1recharge/2interruptrdx

as 511 heal compared to siphon life 250 (approx) is a very large difference

hasten i guess personal preferance as i found quickness fast enough, but as u got SS then ye go for it :P
