Am I about to do something really stupid?

I never, ever, ever, ever use my Human shields, so shall I respec them out for more attacks? Part of the reason I'm doing this is in preperation for Light Form, as I don't really have a solid attack chain in Human form yet.

Any advice?

There is a thread about this on the US forums actually.

Some people seem fine with none of them, others want them all. Personal choice really I guess. I have a couple of the shields and it's handy to stack with lightform so you don't need to slot it for dmg res so early (or at all if you want to save slots).

any idea how many damage res in lightform would make cap the res without the shields?

OK, i think three to get to 87.5 on most ... may be more efficent slot wise to put stuff into lightform and leave out the shields. res post link

will have to think about this. the only problem I can see is that I can get rid of 2 of the 3 shields but that won't actually free up any slots for my new attacks.

I only ever use shining shield really and I think it is handy. I could drop the energy shield but to be honest I'm not sure what I'd get instead? Most of the powers I have left to take would need slotting to be any use and slots are something I can't spare. At least the shields give a nice damage resist even with the default slot and like I said, that can then save a couple of slots in lightform (lets me slot for recharge instead).

I might get stealth and SS for the two shields, would definatly come in useful now and again.

That was the main problem I had when playing in the Test server... I take on new powers that need slotting to be effective.

I respected the shields out as soon as I could because if I was fighting tough mobs so I needed the shields I would get mezzed detoggling anyway. I took the leaping pool for Acrobatics and never looked back.

I've taken the shields out, still kept the shining shield though. I'm currently lvl 38 and hope this will take me the rest of the way. I want to use pulsar and invoke panic to stop the incoming damage a little (that's the plan anyways).

If anyone can see any obvious mistakes please let me know.

Since you have both Nova and dwarf i would agree with your decision to remove the shields. If you like switching forms a lot switching them back on after coming back into human form is annoying i know. If you feel your taking too much damage use the dwarf form untill its less of a problem

Shining shield comes on as default when changing to human, after reading this thread I found the other shields I hardly had time to activate. If there is too much incoming damage then I do change to dwarf as you say.

Also when crashing from lightform all the shields stopped working anyways so they didn't offer much protection there either.

You've done the right thing, the other shields are practically useless with no knockback protection.

I went through exactly problem in choosing, my argument is Shining is nice in a close combat fight as at that range the foes will use melee and lethal attack; if I'm any further away - where ranged energy/thermal are more often used - then i'll likely be blasting with the Nova, so the othe shields are useless.

You can just use a bind to automatically bring up the shields to solve this problem

For the knockbacks and a bit of hold protection you could pick Acrobatics, the big problem are stuns and sleep effects that will detoggle you and it can be a real pain to retoggle in mid battle.
That's one big problem of human forms kheldian: the quant/voids gun have a very high chance of stunning and detoggling you, leaving you vulnerable to their pummeling..
