Get your builds out for Shockette

Hi there,

anyone have an ED compliant Elec/Elec/Elec build I could have a shufty at?

Shock is doing ok as a blapper so far, heavy melee hits, decent ranged, 1 hold, 1 immob and a nuke. When Power Sink becomes available, I plan to respec slightly into a blaptrollery build, making use of the end drain aspect of the elec set, wondering whether its worth slotting end mods in any of the other attacks?

Is it still worth respeccing into Short Circuit, using it with Power Sink, and controlling mobs that way?

Also, I currently run Combat Jumping with Acrobatics to reduce knockback, holds etc when I am in melee (which is most of the time). Is it worth trying to beef up res and def by dipping into the Fighting Pool and taking Tough, Weave etc? Or should I just wait till the Epics are available and take a shield then? If not, I'm toying with a super speeding, stealthed, end draining alpha aoe'ing, melee mauler chick

Thanks for reading, any help/advice much appreciated

Im not one that does the whole nice funky builds and displays them, i find it takes alot of the excitement out of what your going to do.

But ive got a lvl 50 elec/elec/elec blaster so maybe i can give you some pointers?

1) Forget stamina, once you have powersink it is redundant and a waste of 3 powers

2) Endurance drain is useful if your fighting a few mobs, however when fighting +2's, boss's or AV's you will find this won't help in the slightest.

3) Tough & Weave give around (10% bonus's?) And since blasters inherently have dreadful defence, it won't really help much, just get a good ol Epic Shield at lvl 44.

4) Its always nice to use AoE's and rack up that heavy damage, however attacks like Ball Lightning and Short Circuit are agro magnets if there isnt a competant tank available) so use them with caution in large groups.

5) You gain access to three holds in those pools, these become your new best friends. Slot for Hold duration and accuracy and you will never fear boss's again (if you hit a boss or AV (if your lucky :P) with 2 successful hold powers it generally sticks in my experience).

6) The only ranged attacks you need in the Elec pool are Zapp & Lightning Bolt. And even then these are only used for foes that run or fly, become a true blapper and your damage will mean that you'll rarely die 1vs1 or even 1vsMany due to the AoE knockback powers of elec.

7) Always wait for the tank to have agro and attack through him whenever possible. This is just the safest option (which i never did, i loved debt).

Hope that helps, if not... *sleeps*

Thanks Luminos.

Reckon its ok to drop the fitness pool after power sink? Just got power sink today, might wait till its slotted before respeccing out of stamina tbh. This will give me a chance to pick up recall friend, maybe SS, and possibly stealth too (?) or maybe take short circuit after all - decisions, decisions

Did you not bother with thunderous blast? Loving the nuke, have to say, get it out at every opportunity, keep recruiting 8man teams specifically to take on large mob clusters - ah simple pleasures, watching 8 freaks shake and drop to the floor as your xp bar grows, then running to cover while the team mops up

Cheers for the advice on the fighting pool too, I'd heard it wasn't worth it tbh, fed up with getting stunned and held even with CJ and acro running, though grr. Bring on the epic shields

[/ QUOTE ]There is no such thing as inheret defence, all AT's with no defensive powers on have the exact same defence and resistance.

However, don't still take tough&weave as the point of blaster is not to take hits, but to kill the enemies before they get any out

Just a few comments to give a slightly different perspective.

I would strongly suggest thoroughly testing a no stamina build on the test server before going for it. I personally don't think it works very well, even with 6 slotted power sink I found out of endurance before it's available again, plus I prefer to slot for recharge than end reducers in my attacks. It would depend on your pace of play and what you normally team with I guess, but that's a fairly drastic change to make without trying it out before hand, particularly if you're wanting to run the leaping pool (acrobatics is a fair end usage) an epic shield and possibly stealth too.

Regarding mele elec/elec/elec builds. I have all three holds, the end drains, the mele attacks, plus a few ranged attacks which I'll come on to in a minute. I spend almost all my time in mele and work on a "not getting hit" basis, not on a damage soaking basis, although I do have an epic shield just incase

I tend to open from range with holds to take any particular nasties out of the fight first, then close up to use end drain and the mele attacks. (On all minion groups I wouldn't bother with end drain, only when it's something that would take me a while to kill). I also use lightning bolt regularly in my attack chain with the mele attacks (a good finisher on anything you knock away from yourself), and I have air superiority (knock down, works on bosses, I slot it for just acc and recharge) which I do find very handy for dealing with multiple bosses (hold one, knock one down, drain etc, it just gives another option for dealing with tricky situations).

Invis/end drain I am sorry to say just doesn't work. You unstealth the minute you start the short circuit anmiation and you'll be taking fire until you've finished power sink, all in mele range. That hurts. Not that there's necessarily no advantage to stealth or invis, but not for lining up an end draining alpha strike any more.

Regarding ranged attacks, having a couple is good in my experience, even if I don't use them as much as my mele attacks. I've chopped and changed these on a regular basis.

I'm currently edging towards AOE damage for ranged attacks (plus lightening bolt). Ball lightening, thunderous blast and static discharge - a pretty good combination - will flatten +3s easily if they're not resistant to your damage type. I use lightening bolt to pull with if I need to, I do not have snipe and don't miss it at all.

The leaping pool is handy for the limited hold protection although you'll still need to carry break frees, and very useful for the knockback protection.

The fighting pool doesn't do that much for you, as already suggested I'd wait until you can get an epic armour.

I find the elec epic goes very nicely with elec/elec all round, it seems to complement the set very well.

Just my two penneth.

Wyx.

Fair comment on stamina OVWyx, my main char, Prawnee had a PBAoE end drain in dark consumption and still needed stamina too - looks like I'll keep it.

Thanks for the advice on the stealthed end drain alpha too, think I was getting carried away reading old, previous issue guides

No problem really, Shock is barrelling along quite nicely, just have to resist the urge to tinker too much if I can, the current build is probably close to the best one for my style of play after all.

Thanks all, see you in the game

what wyx said, luminos also made good points, on test i dropped some range skills and the presence pool, took stamina and ran the leaping buffs with my armour and sprint, managed to heavily slot 2 holds and all attacks (2 raged, 1 AoE ranged) my pet and the drains (ps is 3 recred 3 endmod btw in no stamina builds) and dropped the nuke as the AoE dmg (and control factor) of the elec set doesnt really need a nuke in manty situations, its a luxury imo, but i have it on live.

RE no stmina builds, if u slot endred u will do well (no real need to tho in my build), if u slot recred u will suffer, if u run any toggles u will suffer if u dont watch ur end output, try things on test tho.

the thing with elec is u have to decide what u want to do, then pick 1 or 2 of them, u can choose to stun and KB, or to melee and drain, or to ranged blast etc, then build ur toon based on this.

Regarding the endurance situation before power sink. I have ran miss sparkz without the fitness pool and it was a pain if the fight dragged on especially as i was running 2 leadership toggles and had hasten on autofire. The high damage output and abity to hold/imob the last few as you regained some end was alwways helpful if it stuck.

It is still a real pain whenever i go into a PvP zone and loose all end control. before i respec I would like to know if loosing the leadership toggles and hence perception against stalkers would be outweighed by lihtning field (think that the name of the power) and its autohit nature.
