I appreciate you feel strongly about this LN and I admire your passion but you are overlooking that thses ill tempered brats (some of them well in their 20s I may add) dont get control when you ignore them and petion them. No fuelll you see. Maybe from your standpoint I gave in when I disabled arena chat, but I saw no other way. I did try to be polite as I spoke as my alt warning they were feeding trolls and that it was a public channel. I got abuse. Apparently being polite and respectful just are not cool anymore.
Well the support staff not doing their job I have to agree there. We deserve an explantion that doesnt translate as "we want as many subs as we can so we wont ban anyone." Because thats what Im reading here and Im not the only one Im sure. Maybe we need to petition the GMs for not doing anything about petitions. But I would be suprised if half dont care and the others are following a procedure that doesnt include permanent expulsion.
But the only real case I can see for not having a perma ban is how it could be exploited by the nasty and maipulative or at least they could try. But thats about it. And I know people who have left citing among their reasons the support not giving a toss. That bothers me alot. A grot slipper takes the place of someone who is a credit to their community or at least doesnt bother anyone. I am annoyed same as you LN about that. I jsut dont see what our options are but ignore (globally for most of them). I even know when I petition now it goes nowhere but I still do and did last night.

The support lately seems to be getting really lazy and blinded by garbage language on public channels. If they are on a "maximize the subs" policy then this is the end of this community that once was warm and welcoming for the players. Now the new players all they see is a bunch of n00bs cause thats what they are completing who is more of a cretine. Any further lack of action from support to preserve this community will mean the start of a slow death for this place. I will keep using petition and i will keep giving them the occasional yell in arena cause they think noone cares. And they are wrong. Just because people ot speak up it dont mean they not care
I agree a lot with what the guys have said, that some people use him as an opportunity to try and be funny 'globally' when in actual fact they may never have actually spoken to him - it isn't fair, and just putting him on ignore if you want him to "shut up" works just fine.
Last night, another petty squabble started, with such brilliant comebacks as 'no you are', and I asked once if they could please stop spamming the arena channel, and they did so immediately. So not all bad.
Now, why I could 'hear' them when I'm meant to have them on ignore is another matter!
I dont know how many of you know me in game, but i know the evening about which you are all talking about.
I myself am partley to blame as i was a striker-backer. I may have had a few drinks too many but thats no excuse.

Well you got a better response than I did Pyra. I got one person hurling abuse at me as I edited my chat tab the other night, after pointing out it was troll feeding and I was sod isgusted I was disabling the channel. I have disabled arena from my chat tabs on all characters that I have logged onto.
I was on earlier and even spoke when there was a discussion about bugs which seemed worth reading but after that I spotted a conversation about to go south and off arena chat went. On all my characters I log in I will likely disable this channel. Its clear to me this will be a regular occurance. As LN says I shouldnt have to but life isnt fair. Right now the cons outweigh the pros.

To clear my position i didnt have you in mind when making the post since i know how you stand and your behaviour has always been decent plus apologising when you know you made a mistake since we are all human more than makes up for it. Its the people thinking they are right behaving like that and they have the right to do so that i refer too and we all know who they are.

Regarding the Arena chat i took some time to politely chat about it with a GM although i bugged her a lot about it. The response was that they are aware of the whole situation and they have received a ton of petitions for it. It will not be tolerated and apparently the more the petitions the more the importance this matter will take. So a kind request to all when u spot situations like that on the arena chat take sometime and send a petition. It might see nothing but if everyone that cares enough does it it will make a difference in it. We can do our part so the support can do their part. Goin in trouble for 1 petition might take time due to work overload etc. However 50 petitions for the same person immediately might give a high priority to situations like that. Thanks to GM_Amber for taking some time to give a small answer to some of the questions. Restored my faith at least in support. With all the mess last night with the instability and problems in all servers she still took the time to discuss this with me and all my persistent questions.
i d have to agree with the greek, if we ignore this (with /ignore, or tab edits) then we can miss out on important stuff, it may be ok short term, but means any new incoming players may be put off, and thats not good for the nicer majority of the community is it really.
i think when i get back on more regularly after this recording, i will unignore everyone who plays up, and lay some plight chat channel smack down again 
if you lot dont mind that is.
and, afaik the GMs should be able to ban ppl from senbding to certain channels, if they cant it may well be worth them having it patched into their accounts/clients so that 'spammers' can use broad and request etc but not arena.

As far as I'm concerned, I want nothing more to do with him. Had a chat with him on Saturday where I attemped to explain that I knew it wasn't all his fault, and to suggest that he doesn't answer back because he doesn't help his own cause.
All I got back was abuse (which I've documented on the Femme forum, and won't go into here), which I've petitioned. A vile person, the game needs to be rid of his sort.

regular tells from a certain person asking to team , at which point i never knew any thing about this pb although the stories about his main had got to me though bugsy my main.
any way havin got these tell from a lvl 26 pb at start i invited him to team whether i was solo or in team.
i would not really consider this character a worthy team player or one that i would go lookin to invite again but has hes asking and been no problem in team , i duly oblige and send invite.
bearing in mind that i been on c o v in the main since release ,Princess kara has now dun one extra lvl makes 40 that cetain PB is now lvl 43 and is runnin a team that an s g friend is on,ask freind to join team he ask the pb the pb says i'm to low a lvl and refuses to invite, 3 lvl difference
for the biggest power leveler in the game to be such contradicting hypocrite was so beyound me
as for a final insult he booted my mate for being AFK. who has also been very forgiving to said PB in past
so no altough i had never had a problem with him seems to me this guy just likes to [censored] people of .
the really worrying fact about this is,this guy has been pettioned so much and upset so many people yet it appears nothin has been dun from those higher up . is this a standard of policing we can expect full time as its really not aceptable.

Yeh, in Atlas last night he said something similar and was immediately slagged off on Broadcast by a few people.
It's totally out of order, it's just a shame he's not big enough to ignore them and has to engage in a slag-fest on broadcast. Therein lies his problem, as I tried to politely explain to him on Saturday, but was told to f off.

I blocked Arena chat not long after the launch of the Arena feature and Broadcast followed soon after, mainly for the reasons listed above by other people.
I have a core group I tend to team with, although when I pushed my main to 50 I met a number of other good players in pick up groups.
The point of this post is that I've probably missed out on the wider community due to shuting down channels to filter out the "noise". I only usually switch broadcast back on to send Gratz when someone I know has hit lvl 50 and we "do the Atlas thing" but it should be a resource for all people to get into the extended community and not something that is filtered out due to griefers.
IRL I work with telesales agents and I have a young child, so on both a work and home front I understand attention seeking 
If you ignore it, it usually gets more intense for a while, but will eventually go away. However, this is a subscription based game and IMO if enough paying players feel compelled to petition then NCSOFT have an obligation to resolve it.
Now I'm off to add broadcast and arena back to my alts - let's see what's out there

Really? Well, then maybe you would be so kind and tell us readers what happened when you kicked out Miss Killah from your SG when Killah was lvl 12?
Allow me to remind you, Zane:
you invited me into your Turbo Ninja SG sometime in September. The following day, when I logged into CoH, I found out that I was no longer in the SG, I was kicked out. Zane, you were not even able to write me an internal email to explain why you kicked me.
After about two weeks I saw you online, and sent you a tell, asking for an explanation. You told me that someone in your SG, a tank, complained about my presence in your SG. Thus a swift decision was taken, and without hearing me first, you kicked me out of your SG. Without hearing what I had to say about the tanks complaint, you took a decision. That's the bahaviour of a bad and corrupt judge. A good judge will hear both sides before coming to a verdict.
What really happened between that tank and myself?
I (d/d scrapper) was in a frostfire mish, lvl 12, standing next to a lvl 13 invu tank, who had taunt (but didn't use it) and about 3 or 4 shields. The team was full, and the mobs (lvl 14-15) were angrily pounding upon us. Standing closely next to this tank, I was surrounded by 4-5 mobs, who beat my HP down to red. After swallowing inspis, I wrote the tank a private msg: "Taunt the mobs pls". His stupid and highly annoying noobish reply was: " I only taunt in emergencies". The team managed to survive the first battle in the Frostfire mish.
I sent him another private message, explaining to him that tanks have the highest HP, tanks have powerful shields, tanks were created to receive aggro. His reply: "I do not need lecturing. Thank you. I know what I'm doing."
We got to the second battle in the mish. Same situation: I'm standing next to the invu tank who doesn't taunt. I receive heavy aggro, my HP is down to red, I swallow green inspis, and this time the mobs were too many. With all my inspis gone, a noob emp-healer fighting rather than healing/buffing, and a tank with 4 shields and taunt, who refuses to taunt, I withdrew. Running to the entrance with HP red, I wrote in the team chat that "I'm leaving the team, because we have a tank who refuses to taunt, thus endangering the entire team". Thus I left the team.
This same tank is the one who complained about my presence in your SG, Zane. I told you about it. You did nothing against it.
.......and here you are today, presenting yourself as someone who is just, lying through your fingers that you would stand up for those who are treated unfairly.
Anyway, normally and ususally I'm in ROM (read only mode), but I decided to come out of ROM to let you and the readers know just how "fair" and "just" this Lord Zane is.

I couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes it makes me wonder why some annoying people are ignored by most, but you get a certain few who insist on talking to them. Do they not realize that they're getting what they want, attention? If someone is causing trouble, do not say anything to them, just ignore them right away. After a few minutes, if they are still being annoying or calling names or things like that, then maybe report them.
I'm sorry but that bollucks. Why the hell should I be forced to not use part of the game? One or more ill tempered brats who should be asked to mind their manners or leave by the devs, are spoiling mine and others enjoyment of the game. Sure I can ignore them, point is I shouldn't have to, they should be dealt with by the community support team, if we as a community cannot make them see the error of their ways. And we can't it seems!
So rather than allowing these brats to take over the arena and broadcast channels by just ignoring them, and while it may be futile, with hope petition them before you ignore them.
