And therefore my second question would be, how long does a bonded Kheldian live for? Is it simple for the life of the host or is there some magical lifespan-increasing that goes on?

Here's some info on the Kheldian's background. It's the read out from the Moonfire TF.

When I looked at the contact information of Shadowstar or Starshadow, the WS contact, she is a kheldian passed on from mother to daughter since the time of the pharaos in Egypt.

So that would suggest that the kheldian is more or less immortal when bound, but the host still ages and dies. Wether or not the host lives any longer or shorter isn't mentioned, it might even be possible that the mother is killed (in battle or what not), and therefor the kheldian is passed on to the daughter.
