some advice for a old assault/dev hoping to respec
level 40 AR/DEV here with a keen PvP interest and PvE passion.
You need beanbag earlier, get it ASAP because in the PVP zones you end up as level 25 (except warburg 38) and you NEED all the mez attacks you can get.
Targetting drone is a must, 3 slots right away ASAP
Auto turret has limited uses, its ok in PvE but in PvP it'll get you killed so fast, loads of endurace used up in it too I rarely use it in either vE or vP becasue it takes so long. mines are far more useful and tactical.
Personally I don't think fly works with AR/Dev, tried it and love it but it limits tactics. I'm a TP man, becasue TP foe give a wealth of options in both PvP and PvE.
Fitness pool.... weeeeeellll it has its uses but I wouldn't and hven't got it. IT affects slotting.
TD allows you NOT to slot accuracies in your attacks, so use 3 dam, 1 end red, 2 rec reds, should keep you going for ages, with taser and bean bag 3 disorientate durations, 1 end red and 2 rec red
Buckshot I have slotted for a knock back weapon as a space buyer.
Slot your webgrenades, caltrops and anything that can stop people getting to you. I can perma mez a +1 boss with taser and bean bag.
Ignite is the most under rated power in the set, when combined with webgrenade to hold foe in place it can do more damage than full auto with 3 dam, 1 rec red, it uses little endurance and comes back fast, very useful toy.
2 travel powers might be a bit indulgent... thats 2 offensive powers you could have there.
I slot burst to reduce defence, very handy when you need to hit a tougher opponent.
Good plan not going for M30, it sucks
Smoke grenade, great in PvE, not in PvP, sleep is to weak a hold.
AR DEV are slower damaging than other Blasters, use tactics and strategy rather than head to head blasting. We have no mez protection at all.
Using TP foe I can one hit anything that I can TP with mines, very very very useful.
Hope feeding this in helps.
Old level 50 warhorse weighing in to supervise the young upstart's advice. Anything I didn't pick up on, I generally agree with.

AT is useful PvE, but only really for the determined soloing AR/Dev - using AT and Recall Friend is a good way to draw boss fire and alpha-strikes, allowing you to mez them in more safety. PvP, it's a waste of a powerchoice, really - which is a shame, because I liked my little Pet.

Fly is strategically vulnerable where TP is less so - but you're not going to be able to track runners/stragglers as easily with TP as you will Fly, although you may well not be able to keep up with them as well; TP is less precise than Fly, although it is much swifter and doesn't suffer from suppression. At the end of the day, take whichever you feel most comfortable with - I toyed with tweaking Syn with TP, but it just didn't feel right. Without Fly, though, you'll not get to have any funky aerial battles - and that would be a crying shame.

Depends how you view endurance, really. Putting EndRed in attacks only limits the amount of endurance you spend, whereas Stamina changes the amount you generate each tick. That might look the same on paper, but should you end up flattened for endurance, having EndReds in your attacks won't be helping you to gain any endurance any time soon. For surety's sake, you could also slot extra EndReds in your big attacks anyway... and possibly take slots from your lesser attacks and put them to use elsewhere - or use them for other enhancement types. Of course, you have to decide whether that's worth 3 power choices or not.

As above, really - if you have Stamina, you can drop the EndReds from most attacks. This means you can either drop the extra slot, or slot it for another purpose. Slotting Accuracies for PvP isn't an entirely bad idea, given the reduced base To Hit in PvP zones, and the probability of facing defence-based sets with the prevalence of defence in CoV AT types.

Make that +2. You can perma-mez two +2 bosses if you pick up CFR and slot it properly, but it takes some juggling.

It didn't when you could perma-KB people with it - but they fixed that. *sigh*

Sleep? Sleep Grenade = Munitions Mastery. Not sure how powerful Smoke Grenade is, now that they changed the base To Hit to 50%... IIRC, the max debuff from SG was 10-15% (6-slotted), so I'm guessing - and this is just a guess - that a 3-slotted SG is still [censored] in PvP.
As far as PvP goes, AR/Dev falls into either very much a support, or a lone-guerilla role - a few sneaky tricks don't really make up for the lack of firepower you'd expect from the sheer carnage you can create in PvE. Such is life, though - it'd be boring if we were all Ice/Energy.

Opps, smoke sleep, reading, brain, not connected....
Syns view point as ever illuminating and worth listening to...
I don't use stamina cause I don't get into long running gun fights if I can possible help it!!! Therefore End Reds are my friend. Used to have it and it is good... but I had to drop stuff, if I could JUST have stamina I would but 2 other powers to get it is just not in my way of thinking a valid exchange. When I get my epic snipe my play style will change dramatically to an almost exclusive sniping roll with the odd TP onto mines coming into play. I'm a blaster not a blapper, close combat kills me 99% of the time!
Like they siad.
Hello, I used to play a while back, can't remember which issue I last played in, maybe 4/5. Anyway I'm playing again now since cov came out but it seems my blaster is somewhat badly slotted (read damage slotted in pretty much everything ).
I've been reading up as best I can so I know about ED and how it affects me. I'm hoping someone can just give soem general pointers when thinking of respecing. I'm hoping to be pvp oriented but would still like to pve (I am only lvl 29). A few things I picked up is mez is good, so I'm going for bean bag and taser. I have to choose between the m30 and buck shot, I am going buckshot unless anyone has good reasons why I shouldn't .
I realise I can't perma haste anymore but going for it sicn eI like super speed . Anyway I have done a build (I wont post slotting but I think they sensible) I kinda like it thoguh I will have to drop smoke grenade till later (unless anyone thinks thats a bad idea?)
Anyway here it is, any critisisms?
Level 1 --> Sprint
Level 1 --> Web Grenade
Level 1 --> Brawl
Level 1 --> Defiance
Level 1 --> Burst
Level 2 --> Rest
Level 2 --> Slug
Level 4 --> Taser
Level 6 --> Hover
Level 8 --> Hasten
Level 10 --> Hurdle
Level 12 --> Sniper Rifle
Level 14 --> Fly
Level 16 --> Super Speed
Level 18 --> Flamethrower
Level 20 --> Health
Level 22 --> Stamina
Level 24 --> Cloaking Device
Level 26 --> Targeting Drone
Level 28 --> Buckshot
Level 30 --> Beanbag
Level 32 --> Full Auto
Level 35 --> Smoke Grenade
Level 38 --> Auto Turret
for slotting the attack powers I went for somehthing like
dmg/dmg/dmg/recharge/end red/acc unless soemthign doesn't need accuracy or what ever (sniper/flame thrower)
