COH requires an intel processor?
You have to download the mac version of the game to play it on a mac.
He was ... but said it failed b/c he didn't have an intel processor.
How old is his mac?
You probably want to take this question to the Mac section of the forums, at any rate.

My friend was trying to download for his Mac and said the game required Intel Processor only for that version. Is this true?

Yes. Older Macs will not run CoH.

If the computer in question has a G3, G4, or G5 processor, it will not run the Mac version of CoH (which is really the PC version wrapped in an OS X shell to allow it to run on under OS X, hence the need for an Intel-compatible processor). There's a chance you could use an older emulation program such as Microsoft's VirtualPC but performance would be poor and finding the software might be challenging as it's no longer developed.

Yeah, some of the "Mac" games these days (especially EA releases) are actually the PC code wrapped in a Cider translation layer. So, they only run on Intel-processor Macs.
