Fire Aura/Super Strenght for Zone pvp..

How good is this build for zone pvp? I have a 29 FA/SS, first non squishy and non ranged character I've had, needless to say I'm not very good with him, but Its worse than I expected, I was told with the right slotting that they are among the better Tankers for pvp, was the guy exaggerating here?

Most people I see on fire tanks suck. People say its really good for beginners, but I don't see the proof to back it up. What I do see is people rolling fire/ss because they hear its really good, get torn apart on a constant basis and shelve the toon for a */regen scrapper.

Personally I only think fire/ss is made to look good by good pvpers.

Fire/SS/(Pyre) is much better at level 50 for Zone PvP

I disagree. I used to have pyre, but earth works a lot better for me. The extra damage is pretty absurd. Fossilize hits noticeably harder than Ko Blow from 80 foot range, and the immobilize is strong too. Pyre's attacks are a lot weaker.

Well I don't mind if the build is good and I just suck, I can get better with time, even the best builds can be made look like bad by unskilled players, what worried me was that it wasn't a good pvp tank build as I've been told and can't compete well with other players.

True it does hit a lot harder:

1.2 Accurancy
176.51 damage
Recharge time 32 seconds
Cast time 2.07 seconds
+2s Held (mag 3) If target is a player

but it does Take a lot longer to cast and the recharge is bad compared to fire blast:

1.0 Accurancy
* 4 * 4.45 Fire damage over 3.10 seconds (after 0.5 second delay) (80% chance)
* 66.79 Fire damage If target is a player
Cast time 1.2 seconds
Recharge time 6 seconds

not to mention that Fiery embrace has a 20 second duration since its a fire attack instead of 10 seconds that would be for fossilize, pyre is pretty much why I took the fiery aura to be honest.

What Kickass_Jack said and

I also have Ring of Fire slotted for Damage + Melt Armor (which is not that great but decent for debuffing MMs). And Fire Blast's and Ring of Fire's DoTs are great for keeping Stalkers from re-hiding.

If Mids is updated as promised today, I'll post my Fire/SS tank RV build for you. The only weakness I have are Elec/Therm corruptors and I also have a hard time killing /Dark and /Pain Dom MMs, but they can't kill me either.

Where exactly was it stated that it would be updates? I'm curious because I've been using Mid's Hero designer for Issue 13, thought the authoer quit updating it.

There's another person that has taken over the duties from Midnight.

You can read about it here under the updates thread in the Mids Hero Designer section.

Hopefully it will still be out at least this weekend as it doesn't look like it'll be out tonight.

It's been updated but as has been said in other threads, people are having issues opening their old builds with the new update.

Here's what my build looks like from the new Mids. There are some bugs in the new Mid's such as not allowing me to enter all my PvP enhancments. The ones missing are a set of Gladiator's Strike in Boxing and Gladiator's Armor in Tough.

Edit: I just realized that I put a Dam/End Apocalypse in Fossilize instead of the Unbreakable Constraint Proc in this build. I have both purple procs in it on live and when they both proc with FE and Rage it's sweet!
